What do you need to know about the New England Patriots as they try to wrap up a second consecutive Super Bowl title against the Philadelphia Eagles? We'll take a close look.

Naturally when you have done so much on a year-to-year basis, as have the New England Patriots, there are a lot of interesting things one can say about them. Of course, something everyone knows is that they takea tremendous experience advantage, at least on the biggest stage, into Sunday's Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles, which begins at 6:30 PM ET at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

And remember that if you are a BetAnySports customer, you can place wagers in real time after the kickoff, if you access what is available through Live Betting Ultra. And there are a ton of props to be explored on this game as well.

So what can we tell you about the defending Super Bowl champs?

1) The Patriots have not scored a first-quarter point in the seven Super Bowls they have played in under head coach Bill Belichick. But they have allowed only 15 opening-quarter points in those seven games, so no one was necessarily getting off to a huge lead against them.

2) The Pats have allowed more yardage - on a per-drive basis - than any other team in the NFL. But they seem to stiffen up when it counts, as they are second in the league in red zone points (per trip) allowed. And as a result, only five teams in the league have yielded fewer points per drive.

3) To continue with that defense, in the first four games of the season, the Patriots allowed 128 points (32 per game). They have surrendered just 14.7 points per game since, which has been best in the NFL during that span. Also, five of the first six opponents had over 300 yards passing; no one has reached 300 since then.

4) New England, which is a four-point favorite in this game (with a total of 48.5 points posted at BetAnySports), has been sizzling against the number, covering 29 of its last 38 games.

5) Danny Amendola has had 18 catches in the two playoff games for the Pats, with two TD's. He has never dropped a red zone pass during the post-season.

6) New England has scored first in 13 of their 18 games this season.

7) The Patriots blitzed only 20% of the time this season on passing plays, so they clearly look to get "coverage sacks."

8) Over the last four games, the Pats have allowed just three yards a carry to opponents on first down. That is significant, since New England has, on an overall basis, permitted 4.6 yards a carry, which is tied for second-worst in the NFL.

9) The Pats' defense has gotten tight against opposing quarterbacks in the fourth quarters of games, allowing just a 78.5 passer rating.

10) New England's defense has not forced a turnover in the last four games, and only one over the last six.

11) Since the Eagles are so good at getting pressure on the quarterback, it's appropriate to mention that Brady has a passer rating of 96.6 during plays on which he was "pressured."

12) Can Tom Brady stretch a defense? Well, no other QB in the league logged more yardage in the air than he did; that is, not counting the yards the receiver got after the catch. Brandin Cooks had over 600 yards strictly on passes that traveled at least 20 yards. So yea, Brady can get it down the field.
