Paddy Power creates head of Trump betting role

Paddy Power has created a new role to head up the bookmaker’s betting options on U.S. President Donald Trump.

Paddy Power has created the position of 'head of Trump betting', a role which will task the successful candidate with managing the brand's newly launched 'hub' of specials around the US President while also keeping up with his press conferences, statements, tweets and "general idiocy".

The three-month contract is based in Dublin and involves monitoring and managing existing Trump markets while devising new specials to launch. The advertisement for the role also states that the head of Trump betting will be required to "build a wall around the hub to ensure foreign bets don't get in".

While the job posting uses a tongue-in-cheek approach, Paddy Power insists that "if we find the right candidate, we will offer a contract".

Candidates must be able to harness high volumes of data using real-time trading applications in a high-pressure environment, or alternatively possess "an ability to make something up on the spot and stand by it resolutely, shouting down anyone that disagrees".

Other requirements include an "ability to detect fake news" and an "awareness of the "national security situation in Sweden".

Paddy Power, which last year merged with Betfair, recently claimed a gambling sector first after rolling out a Snapchat filter tied into St. Patrick's Day and the Cheltenham festival.
