Two Springfield men admitted in federal court today to collaborating with an organized crime family to run an illegal sports betting website, U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman said.

In separate cases, Joseph Graziano, the 77-year-old owner of the Costa Rica-based website Beteagle.com, and his employee Dominick "Harpo" Barone, 44, each pleaded guilty to racketeering conspiracy.

According to court documents, a crew of the Genovese crime family teamed up with Graziano and Barone, using Beteagle to conduct their bookmaking operation.

The crew, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office, was run by Joseph Lascala, 80, of Monroe, a made member of the Genovese family operating in northern New Jersey. LaScala, Graziano and Barone were among 13 men charged with racketeering conspiracy in a 2012 criminal complaint.

Members of LaScala's crew used the website to track wagers placed by their bettors, though they would collect or pay out money in person, according to court documents.

The complaints against Graziano and Barone allege the illegal-gambling operation ran from early 2008 through May 2012.

In court, Graziano agreed to forfeit $1 million to the government, and Barone agreed to forfeit $100,000.

Each faces a maximum potential of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Graziano is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 18 and Barone on Nov. 12.

Four other defendants have pleaded guilty in the same conspiracy, the U.S. Attorney's office said. Also awaiting sentencing are: John Breheney, also known as Johnny Fugazi, Fu, or Johnny Fu, 49, of Little Egg Harbor; Salvatore Turchio, 48, of Little Egg Harbor; Jose Gotay, 76, of New Milford; Patsy Pirozzi, also known as Uncle Patsy, 75, of Suffern, New York
