Free NFL pick for Falcons at Redskins

The Atlanta Falcons come off their bye week as slight 1.5-point road underdogs for Sunday’s 1 p.m. NFC clash at FedEx against the Washington Redskins on FOX. Elite-rated VietBet has opened the total for this game at 48 points.

Current Odds:
Atlanta Falcons         48
Washington Redskins -3

Atlanta Falcons NFL predictionAtlanta probably needed a week off following a disappointing 3-4 straight-up start, but home wins against Tampa Bay and the New York Giants in its last two games may have this team pointed in the right direction. The total stayed UNDER 52 points in a tight 23-20 victory against the Giants as four-point home favorites right before the bye after going OVER in the Falcons’ previous five games. They are 2-5 ATS overall and 0-2 ATS in their first two road games.

The Falcons still live and die with Matt Ryan throwing the ball to Julio Jones. These two have connected 53 times so far on 81 targeted throws for 812 yards. Rookie Calvin Ridley is second on the team in receptions with 27 for 392 yards and he has already pulled in six catches for touchdowns. Atlanta is ranked 30th in the NFL running the ball with an average of 83.3 rushing yards per game.

Washington finds itself in unfamiliar territory at 5-2 SU and a game and a half ahead of Philadelphia for the lead in the NFC East. It got past the New York Giants 20-13 on Sunday as a one-point road favorite to also go 5-2 ATS in its first seven contests. The total has stayed UNDER VietBet’s closing line in the Redskins’ last three games behind a points-allowed average of 15.7.Washington Redskins NFL prediction

Along with their solid play on defense in this current three-game winning streak, the Redskins have gotten a steady effort from veteran quarterback Alex Smith. The biggest plus has been Adrian Peterson’s 587 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns on 127 carries. He ran for 149 yards on 26 carries his last time out against the Giants, including a 64-yard touchdown run that basically put the game away late in the fourth quarter.

Atlanta is playing better and, even with their new-found success on defense, the Redskins have a bad habit of keeping games closer than they should. I am going with the Falcons SU in this one.
