NFL Week 2 Free Pick - Minnesota at Green Bay

Dave looks at one of the featured Week 2 matchups this Sunday, an NFC North battle between the Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers.

Free Pick for the NFC Central battle

The new season in the NFL is off and running. One of the featured Week 2 matchups this Sunday on FOX at 1 p.m. is a NFC North battle between the Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers. Elite-rated VietBet has opened the Packers as slight 1.5-point home favorites with the total line still off the board.

Minnesota NFL predictionMinnesota won the NFC North last season at 13-3 straight-up and it took the first step towards a successful title defense with Sunday’s 24-16 victory against San Francisco as a six-point home favorite. The total stayed UNDER Elite-rated VietBet’s 46.5-point closing line. The Vikings are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven road games and the total has stayed UNDER in four of their last six games overall.

Current Odds:
Minnesota     46
Green Bay  -1.5

While the Vikings allowed things to remain interesting deep into the fourth quarter of Sunday’s season opener, they still looked like one of the top teams in the NFC this season. New starting quarterback Kirk Cousins completed 20 of his 36 passing attempts for 244 yards and two touchdowns while Dalvin Cook and Latavius Murray led a ground game that picked up 116 yards on a team total of 32 rushing attempts.

Green Bay NFL predictionThe Packers had to wait until Sunday night to get their season underway and they needed a 21-point four-quarter effort to get past Chicago 24-23 as seven-point home favorites. That rally pushed the total OVER VietBet’s 45-point closing line. Green Bay is now 1-5 ATS in its last six home games and the total has gone OVER in six of its last seven games overall.

Aaron Rodgers ended that game with 286 yards passing and three touchdown throws. He completed 20 of his 30 passing attempts on the night. He also added 15 of the Packers’ 69 total rushing yards on one run. Jamaal Williams could only manage to gain 47 more yards on 15 carries. Rodgers injured his knee in the second quarter against the Bears, but he returned to action in the second half.

Assuming that Rodgers’ knee does not have any serious damage, I am going with the Packers in this division matchup both SU and ATS. Green Bay has covered in six of its last nine home games against Minnesota.
