The Buffalo Bills have had their practice schedule turned upside down because of the weather, and now they are going to be playing at Ford Field after their home game against the New York Jets had to be moved.

The New York Jets would seem to have a lot of things going in their favor as they take the field for a Monday night game against the Buffalo Bills. For one thing, this game wasn't even supposed to be played on Monday, but on Sunday at Ralph Wilson Stadium outside Buffalo. But as most people in the BetAnySports audience are well aware, there was so much snow in the area that nothing could be done about it, so a quick shift was made to Ford Field in Detroit, where NFL Monday night betting action will get underway at 7 PM ET. For those people who live in the New York and Buffalo metropolitan areas, the CBS affiliate will televise the game. Others can see it on DirecTV.

There is no other way to put it but that Buffalo has not been able to go through a normal practice week. In fact, because of the weather, practices on Wednesday and Thursday had to be canceled, and the team had to actually travel to Detroit in order to conduct practice on Friday. Transportation was almost impossible, so some of the players had to be rounded up on snowmobiles. But there is no choice but to take this whole thing in stride. What it comes down to, however, is that you have a team with one or two days of practice and possibly a walk-through going up against a team that has had two weeks to get ready, and is coming off an uplifting victory – in the Jets' case, it was a 20-13 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, in which they intercepted Ben Roethlisberger three times.

MNF Betting Jets vs BillsIn the NFL Monday night betting odds that have been established by BetAnySports on this "write-in" game, the Bills are the favorites:

Buffalo Bills -2.5 (-120)
New York Jets +2.5 (+100)

Over 42 points -110
Under 42 points -110

You just know that if any team can screw this situation up, it is the Jets, who have been dysfunctional from about the beginning of the year. Michael Vick was inserted at quarterback after Geno Smith threw three interceptions on the first three possessions the first time these clubs met, and while New York had a brief rally, they fell to Buffalo 43-23. While it is true that Vick has been turnover-free in his two starts, it is also a fact that his history does not indicate that will continue, and NFL bettors remember that he fumbled twice and was intercepted after relieving Smith the first time around against the Bills.

The Jets have been playing with a very thin secondary, and those two pickoffs of Roethlisberger were their second and third on the season. The other side of the coin is that they have allowed 25 touchdown passes. So BetAnySports patrons might expect they will try to employ a tactic of putting a lot of pressure on Buffalo's rather immobile quarterback, Kyle Orton. But Orton gets rid of the ball in a hurry, with an average of under 2.3 seconds per release, which is one of the quickest in the league, and although a lot of those are obviously very short passes, his rookie wide receiver Sammy Watkins did manage to turn a couple of them into big plays against the Jets in the first encounter, with catches good for 84 and 61 yards. On this "fast track" indoors, such a thing could be possible again.

And it is altogether possible that Buffalo coach Doug Marrone, who has raved about the level of hospitality shown to him and his team in Detroit, has been able to mitigate the effect of missing those two days of practice, possibly by doing a little extra on the days they had available. The coaching staff has been together throughout this entire time, hunkering down at the Bills' headquarters before the trip to Michigan. Monday night NFL bettors will see whether the Jets can do some business against Watkins, or if their running game, which has averaged 4.7 yards per carry, can move the chains against the Buffalo defense that has not been half-bad against opposing rushers (3.9-yard average allowed).
