NFL Football Preview - Titans at Jaguars Video and Pick

Crunching the numbers for bettors, there is some genuine purpose to tune in to the Titans and Jaguars on Thursday Night football.

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury and especially you Commissioner Roger Goodell, I present the most compelling evidence and reason to officially legalize and regulate NFL football wagering throughout any state in America: Tonight's Thursday Night Football game between the Tennessee Titans and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Kidding aside, I referece this to have anyone argue who else would seriously watch this game including fans in 2-12 Tennessee or 2-12 Jacksonville without some sort of wager? And please don't bring up the potential Marcus Mariota or #1 pick in the draft incentive with 2-win Tampa Bay and Oakland also in the mix.

The Jags are a startling -3.5 favorite at the moment at Diamond Sports and most other sportsbooks. QB Blake Bortles is the future for the Jaguars, but will be playing through a minor foot injury this evening. The learning curve has swallowed him this season with an awful offensive line to the NFL's worst 70.6 passer rating, accounting for only 8 TD's and 15 interceptions.
But, an even sadder situation faces the Titans tonight playing behind third string veteran QB Charlie Whitehurst. Starter Jake Locker is out for the season and likely his time with the team is done. Emerging rookie QB Zach Mettenberger has been a relatively pleasant surprise but he is also out with a shoulder injury and likely finished for the last two games as well. What Tennessee does have going for them is a fine coach in Ken Whisenhunt, who cannot seem to get any luck no matter where he lands.

In these team's last meeting on October 6th, Bortles played one of his best games, throwing for 336 yards but the Jaguars had a 55 yard field goal blocked at the buzzer as the Titans won 16-14. Tennessee has played a few decent games since but hasn't registered a win. Defensively, they are competent but have yet to hit the 30 point mark in any game this season due to their problems at quarterback and no real consistent weapons on offense to depend upon.

Thursday Night NFL Betting Suggestions

This is a decision where we would be wise to throw out most all statistal logic including "against the spread" or "historical data". As you would imagine, it is a battle of horrible for both sides to conclude just who is worse. Perhaps we might point toward a possible Total Over/Under edge opportunity here with the game marked at 40 to 41 at most respected sportsbooks.

The game is currently listed at -3.5 at Diamond Sports and using an old axiom, the line here surely "tells me something". The Jaguars have much more incentive looking toward their future with rookie QB Bortles. They have much to prove as a springboard to next year and should be alive in front of their home crowd. Feeling no pressure and no reverse logic to obtain any QB draft choice is why they are a "suspicious" solid favorite over a team with the same record.

Similar situations have yielded very positive results playing the favorite. Combined with the major advantage of favorites on Thursday Night Football offers a good opportunity to back the Jaguars minus the points tonight. Also the only legit reason to watch this meaningless game and petition Commissioner Goodell to soften his stance as the ultimate reason to formally legalize & regulate NFL football wagering in the USA.
