NFL Football: Giants at Cowboys video and free pick

Video and free pick for the showdown in Big D as the New York Giants head to Dallas to take on the Cowboys.

How much one week will tell us about the fateful direction of two NFL teams will be decided this Sunday when the New York "football" Giants head to Dallas to take on them Cowboys.

If you made your judgement by persuing the lines available at Diamond Sports, you might already be convinced as the Dallas Cowboys are currently a commanding -6.5 favorite on the NFL betting line. That's courtesy of their 30-23 shocker over the Seahawks last week in Seattle while the Giants failing to show up at Lincoln Financial Field last Sunday night in Philadelphia, getting shut-out by the Eagles 27-0. But let's call an early timeout.

Dallas QB Tony Romo threw 3 interceptions in their first week's loss against the 49ers but since has been incredibly efficent relying on RB DeMarco Murray, the league's MVP thus far. Murray will be looking to be the first back in NFL history to start the season with seven straight 100+ yard games on the ground. However, a majority of the credit to the Cowboys 5-1 start has to be attributed to the turnaround in their defense, which was a nightmare last season. Keep in mind this is much of the same personnel as the previous year, raising the question whether new defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli is making the difference assisting head coach Jason Garrett.

For the G-Men as always it's which Eli Manning decides to show up. The Super Bowl QB version is the league's best 4th quarter threat and has a new weapon in rookie WR Odell Beckham Jr, taking the place of reliable starter Victor Cruz, who is out for the season. Look for TE Larry Donnell to be more involved in the game plan here with another rookie Andre Williams running the ball replacing Rashad Jennings, also out for this game.

Edge to the Cowboys on offense but defensively the Giants are likely a cut above the Cowboys until consistently proven otherwise. New linebacker Jameel McClain is playing very well and the Giants have solidfied themselves in the secondary with Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Walter Thurmond. This will be a big test for them stopping Murray and will need a turnover or two or it could be a repeat of last Sunday night when the Eagles controlled the ball and the clock.

NFL Betting Suggestions

Both games were tight last year and won by the Cowboys including a heart-breaker for the Giants when Dan Bailey kicked a field goal as time ran out to beat them 24-21.

Historically, against the spread numbers in recent games have been quite close between the Giants and Cowboys according stats available at Diamond Sports. Interesting that outcomes have also come close to the Totals (Over/Under) as well, whith the NFL odds currently sitting at 47.5. The Giants have been a good road team to back, taking the money in 5 out of the last 7 games against the spread.

While momentum certainly favors the Cowboys off a huge win at Seattle, it's difficult to imagine the Giants laying another egg after being embarrassed last week. Look for them to play the Cowboys very tough and remain close within a too generous spread. Not an impossibility for them to pull off an upset either. However, getting that extra half point if possible could be the difference in what very likely will be a close game in the fourth quarter. New York "football" Giants the better investment.
