The New York Giants are now proponents of the West Coast offense, and they will put that on display when the encounter the Buffalo Bills in the Hall of Fame Game on Sunday in Canton.

The New York Giants haven't been in training camp all that long, but they have a new offensive look that they are anxious to show the world, and see for themselves. That will be on display for BetAnySports patrons and everybody else this Sunday when they take on the Buffalo Bills in the Hall of Fame game, taking place in Canton, Ohio at 8 PM ET.

Neither of these teams did anything to write home about last season. The Giants had an injury-filled year, and an error-filled one as well, finishing 7-9 and registering some pitiful efforts along the way. The Bills, who were in a period of transition with a rookie coach and a rookie quarterback, were 6-10. With a QB at the helm who has won two Super Bowl MVP awards, football bettors can certainly expect more out of the Giants, and with coach Tom Coughlin getting something less than a full vote of confidence from ownership, the sense of urgency (to use a cliche) is unquestionably there.

In the NFL odds that have been placed on this initial pre-season game by the people at BetAnySports, the Bills are the favorites:

Buffalo Bills -2.5 (-120)
New York Giants +2.5 (+100)

Over 33.5 Points -110
Under 33.5 Points -110

It's not going to be the easiest thing in the world for Eli Manning to master another offense in the short space of one training camp, but he is certainly going to give it his best try.

Throughout most of his career, Manning has been a guy who has gotten the ball down the field. With that obviously comes a certain amount of risk. He was not equal to the task last season, as he tossed 27 interceptions, and so when Kevin Gilbride retired after seven seasons as the offensive coordinator, he was replaced by Ben McAdoo, who has brought in the West Coast offense.

It is a bit of a new world for Manning (listed at +2800 to have the most passing yards by BetAnySports), who is also working with a new quarterback coach (Danny Langsdorf, who comes from Oregon State) and is learning a few things all over again; namely, the footwork that is needed to execute the offense fully. But Langsdorf has said that he took the job because he was absolutely convinced that Manning would be a great pupil, and thus far, he has been.

The Giants are looking to stretch the field a little more on a "side to side" basis this season. They feel as if Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks (not to mention Mario Manningham) will be equal to the task, and they also added a potentially dangerous receiver in Odell Beckham Jr., who was taken in the first round out of LSU. With Beckham, the Giants may have a big-play guy who could keep defenses honest.

Whether they can run the ball well enough to keep defenses honest is another question that NFL football bettors would like to see answered. The speedy David Wilson could be too mistake-prone to provide solutions, and after having neck surgery in the off-season, he had to leave a recent practice with nerve problems.

The Giants actually hope that Rashad Jennings gives them something consistent. Jennings backed up Maurice Jones-Drew in Jacksonville for several years, then gained 733 yards with Oakland last year when he finally got a chance to play a lot. He's in New York (or New Jersey, as it were) on a four-year, $14 million deal., and at BetAnySports he is +7500 to lead the league in rushing Then there is Peyton Hillis, as well as Andre Williams, a possible sleeper who gained 2177 yards (but didn't catch any passes) at Boston College last season.

Some skeptics think that the Giants may have to many holes on defense to contend this year in the NFC East. But one way or another, they should make things happen on offense, as long as Manning is slinging away. Whether he'll be doing it successfully at short range is the big concern.
