The Arizona Cardinals will look to strengthen their hold on first place in the NFC West when they visit the San Francisco 49ers, who will once again be going with their backup quarterback, Blaine Gabbert.

The Arizona Cardinals are going to be a prime contender for the Super Bowl as long as they have a healthy Carson Palmer playing quarterback. They look like they are going to coast to the NFC West championship, and their only concern going into Sunday afternoon's game against the San Francisco 49ers is whether they will have a letdown after defeating the Cincinnati Bengals last week. This game takes place at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, which is where Super Bowl 50 is going to be played. It gets underway at 4:05 PM ET, and BetAnySports customers can remain in action after the opening kickoff, as they place wagers in a challenge against the NFL betting odds through the considerable facilities of Live Betting Extra.

Arizona has had some concerns with injuries lately. Michael Floyd, the standout wide receiver who has averaged 16 yards per catch, sat out last week's game with a hamstring injury, but he is expected to be in action here. However, Arizona will be without a couple of defensive tackles in this one – Frostee Rucker and Cory Redding – so they could be a little thin upfront.

San Francisco has been hit with the injury bug as well. Colin Kaepernick might be finished in a San Francisco uniform, as he is undergoing shoulder surgery. It might be just as well, since he threw four interceptions in a 47-7 defeat to the Cardinals in the third game of the season. In fact, on the first two possessions he had pickoffs returned for touchdowns. Blaine Gabbert will take things to the rest of the way for the Niners, and he has completed 63% of his passes with only two quarterback sacks, which is rather encouraging.

In the NFL betting odds posted on this game by the people at BetAnySports, Arizona is the favorite:

Arizona Cardinals -8.5
San Francisco 49ers +8.5

Over 46 points -110
Under 46 points -110

The 49ers will be sitting Carlos Hyde with a foot injury, as there would seem little reason to risk further hurt to him right now. But that leaves them with very limited options at the running back position. Yes, it's a long way since the opening game, when San Francisco defeated Minnesota 20-3, and things are a lot less optimistic for first-year head coach Jim Tomsula, who could be a "one and done" proposition.

Gabbert's counterpart, Carson Palmer, is having an MVP-level season. His nine yards per attempt is outstanding, as is his 27-9 ratio of touchdowns to interceptions. Chris Johnson has become to go-to option at running back with 797 yards, in what is a genuine come back season for him. The same might be said for wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, who has caught 73 passes. The result of all this, as BetAnySports patrons may have noticed, is that Arizona has the most efficient offense in the league, ranking #1 in yards gained per drive and #2 in points scored per drive. This team punts the ball less frequently, on a per-drive basis, than any team in the league. Conversely, San Francisco ranks dead last in points scored per drive. So you can see the contrast right there.

But what is interesting here is that Arizona's last win as the visitor against the 49ers happened in 2008, and head coach Bruce Arians has been stressing that so that this team does not play flat. Remember, they are coming off consecutive games against Seattle and Cincinnati, so there is certainly the danger of the dreaded letdown.
