NCAAB Tuesday Preview and Free Pick - West Virginia Mountaineers at Baylor Bears

Preview and free pick for a Tuesday NCAA Basketball showdown between the West Virginia Mountaineers and the Baylor Bears.

The West Virginia Mountaineers go on the road this Tuesday to face the Baylor Bears in the featured matchup on ESPN2 starting at 7 p.m. Vietbet has opened the Bears as slight 1.5-point favorites in this Big 12 clash with the total still 'off the board'.

West Virginia drew first blood in the season series with a 57-54 victory against Baylor on Jan. 9 as a 9.5-point home favorite. Things have been a bit rocky for the Mountaineers in recent weeks with a 3-5 record over their last eight contests both straight-up and against the spread. Saturday's 77-69 loss to Kansas as three-point road underdogs stayed UNDER VietBet's 152.5-point closing line and it has stayed UNDER in four of their last five games.

The Mountaineers are averaging 80.5 points per games this season led by Jevon Carter's 16.9-point scoring average. The senior guard scored 15 points in Saturday's loss after posting nine points in last Monday's win at home against TCU. Going back to that first meeting against the Bears this season, Carter only had eight points while going 2-for-7 from the field.

Baylor has built up some momentum for Tuesday's rematch with a SU five-game winning streak that includes an important 59-57 upset against No. 7 Texas Tech on Saturday as a slight one-point home underdog. The Bears have covered Vietbet's spread in their last six games and the total has stayed UNDER in three of their last four contests. They are a profitable 8-3 ATS in 11 previous home games this season.

Terry Maston led the way in Saturday's win playing off the bench with 24 points as the game's top scorer. Manu Lecomte was the only Baylor starter in double figures with 10 points. The Bears shot just 33.3 percent from the field and 23.1 percent from three-point range, but they played well enough at the other end of the court to grind out the win. Baylor is averaging 76.4 PPG this season and it is giving up an average of 68.9 points a game to its opponents.

I like Baylor avenging that first loss both SU and ATS at home this time around. I do not have the confidence in the Mountaineers right now like I did earlier in the season.
