The Nevada Wolf Pack will try to gather themselves after in overtime victory on Friday, taking on Cincinnati Bearcats in the South regional action in the NCAA tournament on Sunday.

Well, the Nevada Wolf Pack had an absolutely thrilling victory on Friday, winning a struggle against the Texas Longhorns. But now they have to come back a couple of days later with a rather short roster, tackling the Cincinnati Bearcats in a game where the victor will move on to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament. It is scheduled for 6:10 PM ET at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, and BetAnySports customers can watch it on TNT, and also place wagers in real-time, as they access the state-of-the-art software from Live Betting Ultra.

Nevada, which won the regular-season title in the Mountain West Conference but lost out in the tournament to San Diego State, comes into this game with a record of 28-7 straight-up and 16-16-2 against the basketball pointspread. Cincinnati is 31-4 straight-up and 18-14 versus the points.

NCAA tournament free pickNevada staged a huge comeback from 13 points down to tie Texas, and then they outlasted them in overtime. But here's the problem confronting coach Eric Musselman – his team really only employs six players, and four of this team's starters went more than 40 minutes. There was a relatively similar situation for them when they were in the conference tournament, as they were a little worn out in the semi-finals against UNLV and had nothing left in the tank against San Diego State.

Cincinnati beat Georgia State in its opener, and they had a little easier time of it, so the argument can be made that they are not "spent" as much. One thing you are going to get out of the second-seeded Bearcats is defense; in fact, according to the metrics that are available from the respected KenPom.com, they are second in the nation in Adjusted Defensive Efficiency. To give you an idea what kind of "lockdown" they can impose, they were thirteen points down at the half to Memphis in the American Athletic Conference tournament, then held the Tigers just 18.5% shooting in the second half.

In the NCAA Tournament odds posted on this game by the people at BetAnySports, Cincinnati is the solid favorite:

Cincinnati Bearcats -8
Nevada Wolf Pack +8

Over 137 points -110
Under 137 points -110

When it comes to talent on the offensive end, there is no questioning that Nevada has credentials. The Wolf Pack (28-7 straight-up, 16-16-2 ATS) brings out a rather unique lineup, where they put a bunch of guys on the floor who are 6-7 or 6-8. Generally they'll have roles; Jordan Caroline, for example, is the inside guy, and he plays much bigger than 6-7. Kendall Stevens, also 6-7, is this teams three-point threat, shooting 44.4% on the season, and we imagine he'll have to get relatively hot to give Nevada an advantage.

Then there are the Martin twins – Cody and Caleb, both of whom transferred from North Carolina State. Caleb is the better of the two; in fact, he may have been the best player in the Mountain West this season. Nevada has been challenged a bit, however, by the loss of point guard Lindsay Drew, who is after the season with an Achilles injury.

One of the things Cincinnati (31-4 SU, 18-14 ATS) likes to do on defense is force turnovers, which they have done on 22.1% of their opponents' possessions. But Nevada, statistically speaking, is the best team in the country a taking care of the basketball. One of the bigger challenges for the Wolfpack will be keeping Cincinnati off the offensive boards; the Bearcats are able to retrieve 38.5% of their missed shots, and they have multiple people who can hit the glass, including 6-8 All-American Gary Clark, who is known to do a little bit of everything.

Again, let's emphasize that we recognize Nevada has talent. But their key players might be a little worn out. Remember that Cincinnati is a very tough team to shoot against, as they are second-best in the country defending two-pointers and seventh-best defending the triple, and they have made their opponents take up 18.6 seconds of the shot clock on average. Nevada's defense is also designed to make the opponent work for a shot, and it really is on defense that most of the energy is spent. So we will go ahead lay the points with the Bearcats.
