There seems to be certain doubt as to whether Jameis Winston will be in action for the Florida State Seminoles as they prepare to do battle with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Saturday night.

If you asked most football players, they would probably tell you that they could do without the kind of distractions that seem to be swirling around the Florida State Seminoles' program at the moment. But this team continues to move forward, despite much of the uncertainty surrounding the starting quarterback, who also happens to be the reigning Heisman Trophy winner. At 8 PM ET at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Florida state will engage in a showdown with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish that may well have a spot in the four-team national college football championship playoff on the line.

BetAnySports customers are well aware of the problems surrounding Jameis Winston, who seems to have found nothing but trouble since winning the Heisman and a national championship as a freshman. Winston has been involved in a fracas on the baseball field, then charged with shoplifting, misbehaved in a very graphic and obscene way on campus, been accused of sexual assault, and now is in a controversy over money for autographs, in which the information seems to have been discovered accidentally as a result of the investigation into Georgia's Todd Gurley.

Winston will apparently go ahead with the student disciplinary hearing regarding the sexual assault charges, and school officials are still figuring out what to do about the possible autographs scandal.

In the NCAA football odds that have been posted on this game by the people at BetAnySports, the Seminoles are a double-digit favorite, IF Winston starts the game and doesn't catch a suspension between now and then:

Florida State Seminoles -10
Notre Dame Fighting Irish +10

If Winston doesn't start, then FSU is favored by just seven points.

Got that?

Florida State currently rides a 22-game winning streak into this contest, but has been dropped from the #1 spot in the polls, not so much because they been disappointing but because Mississippi State has been so outstanding that they have ascended to the top spot.

College football bettors who have followed the Irish this season know that they had a couple of very close calls against Stanford and North Carolina of late. And Notre Dame has been far from perfect; they've turned the ball over 10 times in the last three games.

It's really kind of interesting; when you take a look at it, neither Winston nor Everett Golson, the quarterback for Notre Dame, has ever lost a regular-season game as a starter. BetAnySports customers remember that Golson had to sit out all of last season as a result of academic violations. This year he has come back with a new resolve and improved as a passer, completing 63% of his throws with 16 touchdowns and just four interceptions. He probably doesn't get as much consideration in the current Heisman derby as he deserves.

This will be an interesting matchup between Florida State's extremely experienced offensive line and a Notre Dame defensive front that is allowing just 3.2 yards per carry. Taking note of the NCAA football odds that had been posted at BetAnySports, Florida State has covered just one of its six games this season. So any impost is going to be a challenging one. But on a team that has not fallen apart, even with lots of news taking place off the football field, it is hard to believe that FSU wouldn't be putting up a tremendous obstacle for Notre Dame to overcome.
