The Hawaii Warriors will try to rebound from the devastating loss to BYU, as they play host to the Nevada Wolf Pack on Saturday.

It was not the best of circumstances for the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors last week, as they played on a grass field for the first time and got flummoxed by BYU. So they are definitely in "bounce back" mode as they take on the Nevada Wolf Pack, which fell short against Boise State last week. These Mountain West Conference teams will square off at midnight on Saturday at Aloha Stadium, and if you are a BetAnySports customer, you can place wagers even after the game has begun, utilizing state-of-the-art software from Live Betting Ultra.

Cole McDonald had to sit out the game against Wyoming with an injury, and the hope was that the nation's leader in touchdown passes (with 26) would be able to do some serious business against the BYU secondary. Well, he did have 248 yards, but wound up being only a little over six yards per attempt. And BYU laid a 49-23 beating upon the 'Bows. As for Nevada, they brought Ty Gangi back to the lineup after injury, and hung tough with Boise State most of the way, but were victimized by a couple of big plays – an 88-yard run by John Hightower and a 99-yard interception return by Tyler Horton. So they lost 31-27.

McDonald has thrown for 2348 yards and only has three interceptions on the season, which is a big plus for him. His main receiver, John Ursua, is only 111 yards short of 1000 on the season. Needless to say, he leads the nation in receiving yards.

In the NCAA football betting odds posted on this game by the folks at BetAnySports, Hawaii is favored by a field goal:

Hawaii Rainbow Warriors -3 (-105)
Nevada Wolf Pack +3 (-115)

Over 67.5 points -110
Under 67.5 points -110

Hawaii's "success rate" on its offensive plays is 50.3%, which is 11th-best in the nation. And it may surprise some people that the Warriors have a third-down conversion rate of only 32.1%, but 82% of the first downs they have achieved have come on first or second down, and that is the highest rate in the country. It also might be a surprise that Hawaii can run the ball as well; their offensive line has created a "Rushing Opportunity Rate" of 57.3%, which is #6 nationwide. They just have to run it a little more. This defense will allow some explosive plays, so it is incumbent upon Nevada to produce them. Indeed, the Wolf Pack is 21st in the nation in the category of "explosiveness," but they have also let the opposition do that too.

It might help Nevada to be able to turn its best running back loose. Toa Taua has averaged 6.2 yards per carry, and the true freshman is a nice complement to the receiving duo of Kaleb Fossum and McLane Mannix, who have close to 1100 yards between them.

Maybe one of the key factors in this game is whether Nevada can minimize what Hawaii does in the red zone. Thus far they have succeeded 28.6% of the time in preventing opponents from scoring any points inside the 20-yard line. All in all, we are not sure they can keep up the pace, so in a small recommendation, we are going to lay the points with the home team.
