NBA changes Stephen Curry’s point total, creates gambling chaos

Stephen Curry can score a basket in his sleep. That's not hyperbole.

Stephen Curry can score a basket in his sleep. That's not hyperbole.

After the Warriors' 108-101 Game 6 win Saturday night, in which the Golden State sharpshooter was credited with 29 points, the NBA retroactively corrected his point total Sunday. Twenty-nine became 31, with the NBA citing a mis-credited basket for the shift.

Semantics to your casual fan can be life and death to gamblers. The Vegas over-under on Curry's point total was 30.5.

The basket in question was a late-game floater that officially had been awarded to Draymond Green. Green was a bystander in the play, with Curry beating Kevin Durant off the dribble and sinking what should have been — and now are — his 31st and final points of the game.

Twitter users flooded the comments beneath the above video, urging (to put it nicely) the league to correct the boxscore.

"Betting company wont credit bet untill [sic] u fix it," one Twitter user wrote.

So what happens now?

Well, as pointed out by USA Today, it depends.

"Vegas is split on this," Jay Kornegay, the Las Vegas Hilton's race and sports book director, told the LA Times. "It's all up to the house rules, and even how you interpret those rules."
