The Miami Heat have their backs to the wall on Friday night, as they try to stay alive in their Eastern Conference playoff series against the Charlotte Hornets. The game will take place in Charlotte, at the Time Warner Cable Arena.

Two nights ago, the game between the Charlotte Hornets and the Miami Heat ended with a little bit of controversy. That has quieted down a little, and now what is left for Miami is the urgency of having to stay alive in the series, as Game 6 will begin 8:05 PM ET at the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte. The Heat won the first two games, but they have been ineffective offensively since. Now the Hornets, owned by NBA legend Michael Jordan, have a chance to move onto the next round. And BetAnySports customers don't have to stop betting after the opening tipoff, as they can engage in the action throughout the evening through the magic of Live Betting Extra.

Miami won the first two games by a total of 44 points, but Charlotte has come roaring back, with three straight victories, including a 90-88 triumph on Wednesday. In that game, KembaWalker scored 34 points for the Hornets, and Dwayne Wade missed on an opportunity to tie the game with seconds left, although he claimed he was fouled. The NBA has issued a statement that they saw no evidence of any foul in that situation.

Thus it is now incumbent upon Miami to score some more points. They have averaged only 84.3 over their last three games, shooting a little less than 39% over that time. They must get better production out of veteran Joe Johnson, who is only 33% for the series, and rookie Josh Richardson, who has made only 32.5% of his shots.

In the NBA odds that have been posted on this game by the people at BetAnySports, Charlotte is laying a small price at home:

Charlotte Hornets -1.5
Miami Heat +1.5

Over 191.5 points -110
Under 191.5 points -110

Neither team has really been all that effective shooting the ball over the last three games; Charlotte is only 39% from the field, but as usual, they have taken care of the ball, committing only 42 turnovers throughout the entire series. Walker has been a standout, as far as ringing up numbers, as he has averaged 22.5 points for the series. But he has made only 36% of his field-goal attempts, so there is the possibility that on a bad night he can take the offense down with him. Al Jefferson has started some games here, and the veteran big man is averaging 14.2 points on 52% shooting.

Off the bench, Jeremy Lin has really been a standout, with 14 points a game and a "usage" figure of 22.6, indicating Charlotte really relies on him when he is on the floor.

The Hornets nailed 12 out of their 24 three-point attempts in Game 5, but BetAnySports patrons know that this is more or less an aberration, as they were just 23.5% accurate from long-range in the first four games of this series. This is not really a team that is going to kill anyone with shots from downtown, but they do like the mid-range game.

That's good, because Hassan Whiteside has been in pretty good form as far as the intimidation factor is concerned. Whiteside, who was third in the voting for the Defensive Player of the Year, has blocked 15 shots, and he has also been accurate on the offensive end of the floor, hitting 73.7% of his attempts.

Spencer Hawes, one of the guys who rotates at center for Charlotte, is out of this game with an MCL injury. Nicholas Batum, who has been dealing with a bad ankle, is probable, as is Cody Zeller, with a knee injury. Charlotte has won six straight games at home, and it must be noted that statistically, the Game 5 winner after he 2-2 tie has won 82.7% of the time in an NBA series.
