The Oklahoma City Thunder have been read-hot, winning seven straight games, even though they have played part of the time without Kevin Durant. On Thursday night they visit the Phoenix Suns, who they recently overtook for eighth place in the West.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are currently playing without the reigning Most Valuable Player in the NBA, Kevin Durant, but that hasn't seemed to phase them as they have scored seven consecutive victories, all of which have covered against the basketball pointspread. On Thursday night they take a trip to the great Southwest as they take on the Phoenix Suns in NBA betting action that is set to begin at 10:35 PM ET at the US Airways Center. It is the second half of TNT's basketball doubleheader. BetAnySports customers should take note that the wagering does not have to stop when the game tips off, as Live Betting Extra presents propositions all night long.

The Thunder, of course, had injury problems from the season's outset. Durant, the reigning MVP, missed the early part of the season with his foot injury. And Russell Westbrook went down early as well. But they eventually got back on the floor at the same time, and OKC really started to roll. And even though Durant is out of action, having had a minor procedure on the foot, the team continues to have success. They are on a streak where they have won seven games in a row and covered all seven against the basketball pointspread. They are now the eighth place team in the West, and trail #7 San Antonio by just two games after the Spurs have dropped their first four games coming out of the All-Star break.

Phoenix has been going in the other direction, and in the process they have relinquished the #8 spot in the Western Conference playoff order to OKC. The Suns have lost eight of their last ten games, and made some moves at the trade deadline that were questioned by some. They are currently 30-28 straight-up and 29-26-3 against the spread.

In the NBA betting odds posted at BetAnySports, the Thunder are road favorites:Β

Oklahoma City Thunder -4.5
Phoenix Suns +4.5

Over 216.5 points -110
Under 216.5 points -110

Over the past four games the Thunder have outrebounded their opposition by 87, so they are very much a player on the boards. Of course, a lot of this has to do with the acquisition of Enes Kanter, a very capable scorer and rebounder who has assumed the center position alongside Serge Ibaka. And OKC has more punch coming off the bench now with the addition of DJ Augustin and Kyle Singler, not to mention three-point specialist Steve Novak.

The Suns, unfortunately, had an acrimonious parting of the ways with Goran Dragic, the guard who was generally considered to be the best all-around player on the club. But Dragic was unhappy about his role, because he was part of a three-guard rotation that also featured Eric Bledsoe and Isaiah Thomas, and it mandated that he play the "off-guard" spot much of the time. As BetAnySports customers may have heard, he told the team, right before the trade deadline, that he was not going to sign a new contract with them and that he wanted to be dealt away. He also stated publicly that he did not "trust" management. The Suns found themselves in a spot where they had to make any deal they could, and they did come away with point guard Brandon Knight in a three-way trade. Knight was largely responsible for the turnaround by the Milwaukee Bucks this year, but clearly it is going to take time for teammates to adjust to him (Thomas was also traded, by the way).

And so what you have is a Phoenix team that got caught up in a stumble, while the Thunder blew right by them. The Suns have been "setting," so to speak; they are now in tenth place in the West, a half-game behind New Orleans and 2.5 behind Oklahoma City. So they have a chance to pick up some ground.
