Can anyone gain on the Sprint Cup points lead that Kevin Harvick holds right now? Will Jimiey Johnson be able to win his fifth Coca-Cola 600? Will Jeff Gordon make any noise in his final Charlotte appearance?

NASCAR races are always very interesting to handicap, because quite often a driver's history at one particular course plays a mighty big role. Well, there are several drivers who can present a resume at the Charlotte Motor Speedway who are NOT favored in Sunday's Coca-Cola 600, and they are all gunning for the Sprint Cup points leader, Kevin Harvick, who indeed is the favorite in the NASCAR odds as the action gets underway at 6 PM ET.

Harvick it does have some command right now in the points race, with 437 total, and that is the product of two victories and eight finishes in the top five. He has been listed as the favorite at BetAnySports at +400, and he has people pursuing him, without question.

Martin Truex may or may not be getting enough respect here; he is second to Harvick in Sprint Cup points but is +2000 for this particular race. If we could possibly say that Jimmie Johnson is not getting enough respect, well, that might very well be the case. Consider that Johnson has seven victories over the course of his career at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, and four of them have come in the Coca-Cola 600. There was a stretch where he won three years in a row (2003-2005), and he is, in fact, the defending champion. On top of that, he has a career driver rating of 111.5 at Charlotte, while Harvick's is only 84.7. Yet he is priced at +500. How good is he in this race? Another victory for JJ today and it will be quite historic, as he will tie Darrell Waltrip for the most wins all time in this specific event, with five.

And speaking of Waltrip, he will be joined in the booth with Fox next season by Jeff Gordon, who is priced at +1600 at BetAnySports and owns five victories on the Charlotte track. This is the 45th time he'll be starting at this venue, and he once went through five straight years of taking the pole in the 600. Of course, that string started 21 years ago, so Gordon has seen better days. But count him out at your own risk; he is sitting in ninth position in the Sprint Cup standings.

Here is a listing of the top ten on the BetAnySports NASCAR odds list for the Coca-Cola 600:

Kevin Harvick +400
Jimmie Johnson +500
Kurt Busch +700
Brad Keselowski +850
Joey Logano +1000
Matt Kenseth +1000
Kasey Kahne +1300
Denny Hamlin +1400
Jeff Gordon +1600
Dale Earnhardt Jr. +1900

Throughout the history of Sprint Cup racing at this track, 28.5% of the winners have come from the front row. And one of those guys on the front row is Joey Logano, this year's Daytona 500 winner who is currently in fourth place in the standings. Logano has a pretty interesting history in Charlotte, with an average finish of 10th place, and seven top tens. So there's a pretty good chance he'll be formidable. He is getting respect from the oddsmaker, as he is +1000 in the NASCAR odds.

BetAnySports patrons may see something very interesting toward the finish here. As Johnson has stated to reporters this week, being in second position is not necessarily a very good thing, especially if you are chasing the leader late in the race. He says that even though Charlotte can be a wide track, there are still very narrow entry and exit points in the turns, and that is going to make passing very very difficult.
