But the Cougars, who have risen to the occasion in wins over Arizona and Wisconsin, as well as a 26-point romp over pass-happy Hawaii, are in the nation's top 30 in both total defense and passing defense.

While Northern Illinois is a member of the lightly-regarded Mid-American Conference, they do have a stout defense, so it's not necessarily shameful that BYU had trouble against them. The Broncos are a little "softer," and they have experienced some injury attrition on the defensive side, which does raise a concern. Still, the fact that the Cougars have, for the most part, had execution problems and serious areas of inconsistency, whether Wilson or Tanner Mangum has been the quarterback, doesn't necessarily bode well for them here.
