Brock Osweiler comes back to Denver as quarterback of the Houston Texans, and the Broncos try to rebound after two straight defeats.

The Denver Broncos are trying to bounce back from consecutive losses, and now they get to go up against one of their former quarterbacks. The Houston Texans come to town, and Brock Osweiler is in the process of trying to establish himself as the unquestioned leader of this team. He's had his ups and downs, but Denver knows what he is capable of. Game time is 8:30 PM ET at Sports Authority Field, and BetAnySports customers can watch this game live on ESPN and then place wagers in real time utilizing the state-of-the-art software from Live Betting Ultra.

Houston Texans betting previewOf course, these Texans won the AFC South last season with Brian Hoyer at quarterback, and they felt an upgrade was in order after Hoyer threw four interceptions in a playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Whether they have gotten that with Osweiler is probably an answer that would be premature right now. But the former Arizona State quarterback, who made seven starts for the Broncos last season, has demonstrated that he can play under pressure, as he brought his team back from 14 points down to beat the Indianapolis Colts last week. He has also proven to be mistake-prone, with eight interceptions. This is someone who may have been in line to inherit the quarterback position in Denver after Peyton Manning retired, but followed the money instead. Nonetheless, he considers his four years with the Broncos to be an incredible learning experience with Manning around.

In the Monday night football odds that have been posted on this game by the people at BetAnySports, Denver is a solid favorite:

Denver Broncos -8
Houston Texans +8

Over 40.5 points -110
Under 40.5 points -110

The Broncos' quarterback is Trevor Siemian, who sat behind Manning and Osweiler last season and did not throw a pass. But he was very impressive during the pre-season, and Denver felt that he would be better then veteran Mark Sanchez or first-round draft pick Paxton Lynch to lead this team. Siemian suffered an injury to his left (non-throwing) shoulder and had to sit out a game against the Atlanta Falcons, in which Lynch started. Denver lost that game, and then turned around and loss to the San Diego Chargers as Siemian came back to the lineup. So now obviously some questions are being brought up as to whether the defending Super Bowl champions have the ability to repeat.

Interestingly enough, Osweiler has started 13 games in the NFL, and three of them have gone to overtime, including last week's victory. And Houston is on top of their division, which is something at Denver can't boast. At the moment the Broncos are a half-game behind the Oakland Raiders, and maybe some BetAnySports patrons expected that. By the way, the Broncos get someone else of the "injured list" this week; Gary Kubiak, who missed the game against San Diego with severe migraine problems, will be back on the sidelines, and he is a guy who knows Osweiler about as well as anybody.

Denver Broncos free pickSo what are the problems with the champs right now? Well, for one thing, they have been inconsistent with the ground game, as a result being in unfavorable down-and-distance situations too often. Currently they rank 19th in the category, but remember that they were in this same position last season, and then the rushing attack really came on strong in the second half of the season. CJ Anderson, who was the cornerstone of all that, is only averaging 3.5 yards per carry. And one way or another, they will have to do better when they run the ball on first down. When this team has been faced with third down and ten or more yards to go, they have converted only 27.7% of the time. Siemian isn't necessarily that dependable as a guy who gets the ball far down the field.

Keep in mind that Houston does not have JJ Watt in the lineup and won't have him for the rest of the year, but also keep an eye on Jadeveon Clowney, who is not starting to make a big impact and will be difficult for Denver to keep out of the backfield. Kubiak acknowledges that Siemian's throwing motion was affected by the injury to his other shoulder. Let's see if that continues.
