Italian regulator the Amministrazione Autonoma dei Monopoli di Stato (AAMS) has launched a new program for consumers that want to exclude themselves from gambling activities.
The 'Unique Self Exclusion Registry' will allow punters to opt out of gambling and related services with any operator in the country.
Operators and gambling companies must adhere to the request by blocking all access to the player's account and logging their details with the self-exclusion registry.
Players will have the option to self-exclude for a fixed period or indefinitely, with cases monitoring bodies having the power to request a full six-month exclusion for certain punters.
The AAMS collaborated with Milan Technology University Italian state financial auditor SOGEI to form the new initiative.
