There has been almost full year delay on the anticipated launch date of online slots in Italy. With pressure building on the Autonomous Administration of the State Monopolies or the AAMS, the launch date has been set for December 3, 2012.

AAMS has just released publication of the new guidelines on casino games which include that of online slots.

Although online slots have been approved, stipulations regarding applications are as follows: Applications can be submitted and filed for operators but cash poker and other casino games apart from online reel slot games, will not be able to launch simultaneously in order to avoid competitive advantage of the conglomerates. On the first and third Mondays starting in the month of December, operators will be able to launch online reel slot games which have been prior approved by AAMS.

Soon after Italy legalized gambling and opened its online gambling sector, a major percentage of revenue began to accrue from the market. Once operators go live with online reel slots, the Italian market will offer the greatest array of legal and regulated betting systems across Europe. Italy will continue to grow its online gambling sector allowing for both domestic and foreign entities to profit and the sector to become a dominant force.
