Germany Bundesliga - Match Day OneTips

The German Bundesliga kicks off another season this weekend, after several years of Bayern Munich monopolizing the league, there seems to be nothing stopping the German giants from collecting yet another domestic title again, the real intrigue will come from those teams fighting it out for the remaining Champions League spots.

Friday the Bavarians ushered in the new campaign, with a new manager in charge this Bayern machine came out in a new tactical shape, although they had their hands full with a pesky Hoffenheim side, who in recent years have seen their stock rise on the European circuit, although their boy wonder Julian Nagelsmann will be departing from the club next season, the visitors were competitive for the first 80 plus minutes.

The marquee match-up on Saturday's line-up is a classic German rivalry, as Bayer Leverkusen make the short trip too Borussia Park, where a Monchengladbach side are anxious to start the new season, and erase the dreadful memories of their 2017-2018 campaign.

Bayer Leverkusen were left outside the Champions League spot by goal differential last season, after routinely dropping points to bottom of the table teams, 'Die Werkself's' found themselves on the outside looking in on top level European competition. The Company Eleven will now try to rebound from their late year collapse, and focus on building off all the positives they collected for much of the time together.

First year manager Heiko Herrlich was a perfect fit for this proud club, bringing back an aggressive nature to the squad, his attacking nature brought the best out of his side on a regular basis. Herrlich installed a deliberate 4-2-3-1 formation, placing German striker Kevin Volland in charge of finding the back of the net, the dedicated number nine had a dream season under his new head-man, netting a career best 14 goals, and now seems even more motivated to improve on those numbers, in year two in Herrlich's system.

The stand-out star of the team was attacking midfielder Leon Bailey, the young starlet set the league on fire, his incredible pace and technical abilities on the ball were undeniable. Bailey was instant excitement each time he gained possession of the ball, he will now have more responsibilities in the starting eleven, after recently inking a new deal with the club, his services will be a welcome sight for Leverkusen for many years to come.

Leverkusen did loose their longtime goal-keeper over the Summer, with Jared Leto leaving for Arsenal. The German International was a stall-worth in goal, and it will be interesting to see how they replace his steady hand between the sticks, Lukas Hradecky was brought in to serve as Leto's successor, but the newly signed man will also not be available, giving the responsibilities of keeping Monchengladbach out of the back of the net too Ramazan Ozcan, who could be a liability in this intense fixture.

Borussia Monchengladbach are excited to get back to business, after a forgettable 9th place finish in the Bundesliga table, the 'Foals' are prepared to turn their fortunes around, and make a deep run towards European considerations.

Veteran German manager Deiter Hecking has been impressed by what he has seen from his team during the pre-season, and the DFB Pokal. The Foals netted eleven goals their last time out, with the attacking trio of RaffaelThorgan Hazard, and newly signed striker Alassane Plea have fit together perfectly within the Gladbach's 4-3-3 system, and should be a disruptive force as long as each can stay healthy for the majority of the campaign.

Monchengladbach will be without the services of Lars Stindl, the German midfielder is on the sidelines with an injury, and his contributions on the pitch will be a large miss, as he has played a major part in the all-around success this club has experienced over the past several years.

Gladbach have hefty aspirations heading into this opening contest, knowing that Bayern Munich will most likely run away with the title again, there will be only three spots left for the Champions League, with the remaining slots reserved for Europa League participants. Getting positive points right out of the gate should be their prime objective, with so much competition within the league, each week will be a true test of their true desire to finish atop the table.

Borussia Monchengladbach vs Bayer Lverkusen - Match Prediction

Both clubs offer high-octane attacking offenses who prefer to go forward for the bulk of 90 minutes, Saturday this strategy should not be altered as they step onto the pitch with one another once again.
I expect Both Clubs to get on the score-line to close out the match-day in the Bundesliga, a 2-2 type of fixture would seem appropriate, as each club would be worthy of sharing the points, in this classic German encounter.
