Friday 3/9 NBA Odds and Picks

Professional sports handicapper Ross Benjamin shares 3 of his picks on Friday’s NBA card. Go inside to read why he’s opted for these trio of picks.

Atlanta Hawks @ Indiana Pacers 7:05 PM ET

Game# 801-802

Indianapolis Pacers free pickThe current NBA odds at Bovada has a total of 210.0 on this contest.

Indiana has seen each of their previous 5 games go under the total, and there was a combined average of just 194.0 points scored per contest. Atlanta has gone under the total in its last 4 outings. Both teams have been very good defensively during each of their previous 5 contests. During those time frames, each team held their opponents to a paltry 42% shooting from the field.

These clubs have met twice this season, and both contests stayed under the total. As a matter of fact, during the past 3 seasons, 8 of 10 meetings between these Eastern Conference teams went under.

Pick: Under 210.0

New York Knicks @ Milwaukee Bucks 8:05 PM ET

NY Knicks NBA picksGame# 807-808

Milwaukee is 21-6 (77.8%) under the total during its last 27 games, and that includes 5-1 during their previous 6 outings. They’ve been especially adept at slowing the pace of its games down to their liking. The Bucks last 5 contests have seen just a combined average of 163 field goal attempts per outing, and that’s a very low number by NBA standards. Additionally, since game 42 of their season, Milwaukee has gone 8-1 under the total when facing teams with a losing record. The Knicks enter today sporting a poor 24-41 season mark.

Since 3/1, New York has played 3 games, and 2 of those contests went under the total. During the past 3 seasons, they’re now 25-9 (73.5%) under the total during games played in March.

The Knicks and Bucks have met twice this season, and both games stayed under. Furthermore, those pair of contests stayed under the total by a combined 43.5 points.

I’m looking for this game to be a low scoring affair, and one of my Friday NBA picks will be indicative of such.

Pick: Under 213.0

Utah Jazz @ Memphis Grizzlies 8:05 PM ET

Utah Jazz previewGame# 809-810

The only game played between these teams this season came on 2/7, and Utah walked away with a 92-88 win. Obviously that contest easily went under the total of 199.5. Moreover, there was a ridiculously low 150 combined field goal attempts during that contest, and that translates to a snail like pace for a NBA game. Utah’s last 4 trips to Memphis have all went under the total.

Memphis will enter this contest on an abysmal 15-game losing streak. They’ve gone 10-1 under the total this season at home following 4 or more losses in a row. Memphis is also 22-11 (66.7%) under the total when playing at home during this 2017-2018 NBA campaign.

The average total for Utah’s last 8 games was 206.8, there was just a combined 191.0 points scored per outing, and 7 of those contests stayed under the number. The Jazz have allowed 96 points or less in 5 of its last 6 games. They’ve also permitted their last 5 opponents to shoot 40.7% from the field and limited them to a mere 29.9% from 3-point territory.

The NBA betting odds at 5Dimes had an opening total of 200.0 on this game, and it’s since moved to 197.5.

Pick: Under 197.5
