France Ligue One - Match Tips 

The England Premier League has dominated all the headlines during this opening Domestic weekend, but Frances Ligue One has also kicked-off their own season this weekend, and after their country dominated the World Cup proceedings, they believe they deserve the same type of respect on a global scale. 

Sunday presents two of the of the top clubs in the league, with PSG and Lyon both favorites too top the division, the race for all three points will be a point of emphasis from each French giant on a weekly basis.

Fellow Ligue One favorites Marseille and Monaco laid down the early gauntlet, grabbing convincing victories to start their own campaigns, now all eyes will be on their fellow rivals, as the race for Champions League spots will be at an all time high this season.

Lyon enter the 2018-2019 campaign off a second place finish in Ligue One last season, 'Les Gones' now enter the new year with title aspirations. "The Kids" also make their ways back too Champions League competition, where they are content on making an overwhelming statement on multiple fronts.

Bruno Génésio could be without a few key members to his squad due to World Cup participation, with French starlet Nabil Fékir likely to find himself on the bench to start the opening fixture, with Memphis Depay scheduled to fill his central attacking midfield role, as part of the home sides fluent 4-3-1-2 formation. 

Forwards Martin Terrier and Bertrand Traoré should not miss a beat with Fékir missing from the starting eleven, the calculated trigger-men have continued Les Gones history of threatening forces going forward, and with the French sides open style of play, they tend to find themselves in front of goal several times per match. Depay will certainly help spring them into motion, although he is not as technically sound as Fékir, he still offers great skill on the ball, with world class power and speed to help separate himself from oncoming defenders, expect the Dutch-man to find free space in between the Amiens back-line, as he is sure to cause a major disruption over the course of 90 plus minutes. 

The major deficiency of this exciting side fell on the defensive side of the ball, the French-men cost themselves 22 points in the standings last season, by not closing out fixtures once they held a lead, which has been a major point of emphasis as the new season begins, although GK - Anthony Lopes will not feature in their first game due to suspension, we should witness more of a dedication to limit their opposition from hitting the back of the net on a regular basis. 

Lyon have a favorable schedule to start the new season, and Bruno Génésio should have his squad motivated to take advantage of the wonderful opportunity to keep ground with PSG, as the Parisian's are the clear cut favorites to repeat as Ligue One champions.

Amiens will be a pesky opponent, as they tend to be a very organized side who make scoring goals a true battle. I still anticipate Lyon welcoming that challenge, as they look set to tone early and grab a first half goal, while riding that lead into the halftime whistle, and eventually adding too their total as the second half progresses, to cover the multi-goal spread.
