The luster may have disappeared from the annual clash between the New York Jets and the New York Giants, but these teams still want to look their best, particularly on offense, as they clash at MetLife Stadium.

The New York Jets and the New York Giants play every pre-season, and in recent years it has become known as the MetLife Bowl, with the Snoopy Trophy on the line. There probably isn't as much pride at stake in this series is there used to be, especially when the Jets were playing a very definitive second-fiddle to the Giants in the Big Apple. On Saturday night these teams will meet up in East Rutherford in a game where they both hope to get something going on the offensive end. The kickoff is at 7 PM ET, and BetAnySports customers can place wagers on the action as it is happening when they use the facilities of Live Betting Extra.

It would seem likely that the starters for both teams will go the entire first half, and by all indications, the Giants really need the work. Eli Manning completed just four out of his 14 passes last week, and he missed every connection he tried to make with Odell Beckham, who had such a sensational season as a rookie. As you probably know, the Giants went to a West Coast offense last year, and while they did not make the playoffs, Manning significantly cut down on his interceptions. Coach Tom Coughlin obviously hopes he can be as accurate as he was in 2014, and that other elements of the team can come together to make the Giants competitive in the NFC East.

In the reduced juice football betting odds that have been posted on this game by the folks at BetAnySports, the Giants are the slight favorite:

New York Giants -2 (-103)
New York Jets +2 (-107)

Over 41.5 points -105
Under 41.5 points -105

Back in the 2010 pre-season, Victor Cruz first became known to football fans as he caught three touchdowns for the Giants against the Jets. He did not make a significant impact that season, but eventually became a Pro Bowl receiver. Unfortunately, he will not participate in this game, as he is dealing with a calf injury. But there will be a storyline worth taking a look at, as Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis will be going up against Beckham, at least part of the time. Revis returned this season to the team that made him famous, and so did Antonio Cromartie. Those guys have offered a challenge to wide receiver Brandon Marshall in practice, and Marshall insists that "I'm better than I've ever been." They will need him to be, as their are low expectations on the part of most football bettors for this team at the quarterback position.

BetAnySports customers are well aware of the fact that Geno Smith is out for a while after having his jaw broken in a locker room scuffle. That leaves Ryan Fitzpatrick at the helm, and while he has been accurate during the pre-season, he is only averaged 6.1 yards per attempt. And the Jets have played sloppy football, especially last week, when they were flagged for 17 penalties. The good news is that they will have Muhammad Wilkerson and first-round draft pick Leonard Williams making their first pre-season appearances on the defensive line. This will be interesting to see, because of the fact that Sheldon Richardson is going to be on the shelf for the first four games with a violation of the league's substance abuse policy.

By the way, these teams will meet during the regular season, on December 6, and there is very little doubt that there will be much "soap opera" experienced by New York fans between now and then.
