European Football Weekend Preview - Sunday Edition

The European weekend continues on Sunday, with many of the larger clubs in the leagues taking their turns on the pitch. The match day is highlighted by Arsene Wenger leading the Gunners to Old Trafford, for the last time as Arsenal's head man.

Expect another exciting day of top flight competition, as the amount of fixtures remaining in the schedule are rapidly decreasing, causing for alarm to gather as many positive results as possible.

England Premier League - Match Day 35

10322 Manchester United vs. 10323 Arsenal

Old Trafford, Manchester, England

4-29-2018 - 11:30 am ET

The Premier League schedule makers got this particular match-up spot on, with a ton of story lines heading into this particular event, we are certain to see all participating members leaving everything they have on the pitch.

Arsenal make their annual trip to the  'Theatre of Dreams' on Sunday, as the Gunners look to grab their first league victory at the famous stadium since 2006.

The Londoners enter Match Day 35 clinging onto 6th place in the EPL, with an overall record of 17-6-11 and 57 points too their domestic tally, the Gunners sit 3 points ahead of Burnley for the final European spot in the Premier League.

Arsene Wenger has experienced his own personal nightmares at Old Trafford, the French-man seems to have been jinxed at the home of the Red Devils, only picking up 3 wins in all competitions during his 22 year Premier League career.

Wenger will look to shake those past experiences away, hoping his side can carry over their four goal performance they experienced last week. The Gunners decision maker knows his squad must score goals, in order to compete with Man-U on Sunday.

The visitors will look to their depth in this specific event, after participating in a highly contested Europa League fixture on Thursday, the Londoners will need fresh legs in order to compete with a fully rested Manchester side.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is one of those players who looks to make a vital contribution for Arsenal. The talented danger man is slated to start up top in Wenger's 4-3-2-1 formation.

Aubameyang is unable to compete in all European competitions, making him a world class option for all domestic fixtures in the crucial number nine role.

The former Dortmund striker has had flashes of brilliance after the move in the winter transfer window, with 6 Goals as a part of the Gunners front-line, his presence on the pitch could prove valuable for the visitors.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan had hoped to make his return to Old Trafford after being traded during the transfer window, the former Man-U Midfielder has been sidelined with a lingering knee injury, and remains a doubt to see any significant time during Sundays must see event.

Alex Iwobi and Danny Welbeck are also set to get their chances to shine in the starting eleven. The Midfield duo have also been consistent rotation players during the season, and will now look to provide support to  Aubameyang with pin-point services into the box, and skillful through balls to the lethal tally's man.

Arsenal have really struggled to find the back of the net away from the Emirates, scoring an average of 0.9 Goals per match, in their last 16 Premier League away fixtures.

The Gunners have been punished repeatedly on the back-end domestically, conceding an average of 1.6 Goals per match, in their last 16 Premier League away fixtures.

Manchester United are more than happy send Arsene Wenger away with another loss at Old Trafford. The Red Devils have thrived on the Gunners miseries at the 'Theatre of Dreams' over the years, they now look to continue their dominance for yet another match.

The Red Devils are proud owners of the 2nd position in the EPL table, reeling off an overall record of 23-5-6 and 74 points, in their quest for back to back Champions League appearances.

Jose Mourinho has continued to play down the magnitude of Sundays match-up, the Portuguese has experienced a tremendous amount of success during this memorable campaign, he will now look to play spoiler one last time as the French-man comes to town.

Mourinho will have the ability to field his strongest possible eleven, which the Man-U head man has all intentions of doing so, as he looks to lock up 2nd place in the Premier League table.

The home side have been more versatile in their attack with the arrival of Alexis Sanchez, the former Arsenal man made the move to Old Trafford at the turn of the year, giving Mourinho the flexibility to send out a more attacking 4-3-3 formation.

The Chilean offers the ability to create opportunities for others to flourish, as well as unique finishing skills in the final third of the pitch, giving the Red Devils an added weapon in the attacking half.

Romelu Lukaku, Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford are all in contention to partner with Sanchez at the top of the line, the talented danger men should be truly excited about facing this Arsenal back-line, with 55 Goals scored in all competitions, we should see one of their names on the final score-sheet.

Manchester United have been clinical while on their own pitch, scoring an average of 2.1 Goals per match, in their last 17 Premier League home fixtures.

The Red Devils defense is anchored by GK - David De Gea,  who helped shut down opposing offense by only conceding 0.4 Goals per match, in their last 17 Premier League home fixtures.

Prediction:

Manchester United have owned this series over the years, going undefeated in 13 of the last 14 matches held at Old Trafford.

Arsenal are also experiencing a poor run of form away from the Emirates as of late, losing their last 5 Premier League road fixtures, making this trip that much more difficult for the Gunners.

The Red Devils will certainly look to exploit Arsenal's recent road woes. Man-U have explosive wingers and excel during counter attacking situations, where the Gunners are extremely weak at defending. This should be a major point of emphasis in the home sides plan of attack.

Manchester United look prime to keep their dominance of Arsenal in tact, I expect another multi-goal performance from the Red Devils, as Arsene Wenger will once again be sent away from the  'Theatre of Dreams' in misery.
