European weekend soccer preview with matches from English Premier League, German Bundesliga. and Span La Liga.

European Football Weekend Preview

The month of March has arrived which places an added emphasis on clubs to accumulate points for the stretch run, with the seasons coming to a conclusion across the European landscape, the amount of high quality matches will begin to be at an all time high with so much at stake.

Spain's La Liga was involved in midweek fixtures, this must be taken into account, while a handful of clubs also participated in League Cup play, always be aware of what teams participated in extracurricular activities prior to their scheduled match days.

With European competitions scheduled for next week, there will also be a temptation for teams to rest normal starters ahead of those particular events, gather as much information as possible that can ultimately assist you in growing your investment over the long run.

England Premier League - Match Day 29

10316 Tottenham - 10317 Huddersfield Town

Wembley Stadium, London, England

3-3-2018 - 10:00 am ET

The Premier League continues to heat up, with massive matches appearing on the schedule from week to week, with Manchester City currently sitting in the pole position for the domestic title, the battle for spots 2-4 are still to be decided.

Tottenham currently find themselves squarely in the middle of European considerations, a visit from newly promoted Huddersfield Town should never be taken lightly, as the Terriers have their own ambitions of retaining their spot in the top flight table.

Huddersfield Town make their first trip back to Wembley Stadium since last May,  the last time the Terriers stepped on the famed pitch, they earned promotion dramatically against Reading in a Penalty Shootout, now a travel back down memory lane could end dramatically against the powerful Spurs with top 4 aspirations.

The Town have continued to surprise those who originally doubted their very existence in the Premier League, currently holders of the 14th position in the EPL table, the visitors have put together a respectful campaign, with a overall record of 8-6-14 and 30 points through the first 28 rounds of play, the Terriers sit 3 points above the relegation line as this dramatic season comes to a end.

David Wagner will lead his men back to London with a singular focus, the German manager must find a way to leave Wembley Stadium with positive points to avoid falling out of safety in the league, after grabbing 6 points over the last two match days, Wagner and his scrappy side have shown their determination to avoid returning to the Championship after 45 years of waiting to return to the Premier League, there is no doubt this side will fight up until the bitter end to retain their spot in England's top league.

Huddersfield may travel at less than full strength though, with star midfielder Aaron Mooey, Chris Lowe and Phillip Billing all fighting to pass their fitness tests ahead of this massive fixture, while Jon Stankovic, Sean Scannell and Elias Kachunga have all been ruled out before the trip to Wembley.

Regardless Wagner must push on with what he has within the Huddersfield squad, the second year manager must stick to his coaching philosophies regardless of missing players within his system, a firm believer in a high pressing formation, which has primarily lined up in 4-2-3-1 alignment, the Terriers hang their hats on playing with aggression and looking to disrupt the oppositions offensive flow, while creating steals and using long balls to create opportunities in counter attacking situations.

The Town will also employ a heavy amount of crosses within their offensive design, usually on the losing end of the possession battle, the guests must generate shots on goal by any means necessary, long shots and set pieces are critical to the Terriers success on a weekly basis.

Steve Mounie is slated to get the start at the top of the Huddersfield line, the dedicated number 9 will be the main target on the end of the Terriers service, the high priced Summer transfer got on the score sheet against West Brom in a 1-2 victory last week.

Mounie is most effective in the air using his size and strength to create space, while delivering punishing headers as his specialty within the box, with 8 Goals to his name in all competitions, the Benin target man offers a clear danger to the Spurs back-line.

Huddersfield Town have struggled to find goals away from the John Smiths Stadium, failing to hit the back of the net in 10 away fixtures, while scoring an average of 0.7 Goals in their last 14 Premier League Road games.

The Terriers have also have their hands full with keeping their opposition from filling the stat sheet, conceding an average of 2 Goals per match in their last 14 Premier League road games.

Tottenham start the match day flying high, after routing  Rochdale 6-1 in a FA Cup replay, Spurs now turn their attention to domestic matters where they have failed to taste defeat over the last 10 EPL fixtures, while also going undefeated in their last 13 league home matches.

But with Juventus coming to town next week for the second leg of their Champions League encounter, the home side must not overlook Huddersfield in this spot.

Spurs have fought their way back into the top 4 of the EPL, with a resilient mindset as of late, the North Londoners are content on climbing further than the 4th spot they currently possess, with a overall record of 16-7-5 and 55 points, Tottenham only trail Manchester United by 4 points for the number 2 spot in the league.

Mauricio Pochettino  has taken extra precautions ahead of this particular fixture, resting key starters with the next 5 days being of utmost importance, Spurs are still chasing their first bit of Silverware under the Pochettino regime, now currently playing on 3 fronts, the Argentine seems to be more committed than ever in obtaining his first trophy as the head man of the prestigious North London side.

Spurs have continued to evolve during Pochettino's tenure, implementing a more defensive structure than Spurs teams of the past, his squad all still as dangerous as any other club in the world at going forward, playing primarily out of a 4-2-3-1 with dynamic Center Forward play and explosive Wingers.

Tottenham are world class in counter attacking scenarios, while routinely creating a plethora of shots on goal with their unique individual skill on the ball, they offer a full ensemble of pure class throughout the Front-line, we should expect a quality performance from a determined Spurs side.

Harry Kane continues to capture much of the worlds imagination, the English Striker finished 2017 as the top goal scorer in Europe with 56 totaled, becoming the first player other than Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to hold that distinction over the past decade, now Kanes talents are on full display for the world to witness as part of Champions League Round of 16.

The Spurs star Forward has picked up right were he left off in 2017, scoring goals for the relative fun of it, Kane has complied 37 in all competitions, and with no real weaknesses in his offensive game, those numbers are sure to grow as the season continues.

Christian Erikson, Dele Alli and Heung-Min Son must also get their acclaim as part of the overall success shared by the Londoners, the trio all have vital roles in Pochettino's regular game plan, with Erikson pulling the strings from his Midfield position, while providing elegant service to his target men,.

Alli and Son have also proved they can finish the final product with the best Forwards in Europe, with 32 Goals and 21 Assists in all competitions, we should expect Kane's supporting cast to be fully involved in all the happening's on Saturday.

Tottenham have continued to evolve at Wembley Stadium, after a slow start too their new surroundings, Spurs have since grown into the famed venue, scoring an average of 2.1 Goals per match in their last 14 Premier League home games.

The Spurs defense has been spectacular, even with the absence of Toby Alderweireld from the back-end, Tottenham have still kept 6 clean sheets, while only conceding 0.6 Goals per match in their last 14 Premier League home games.

Prediction:

Spurs took the first leg of this match up, winning 0-4 on Huddersfield's pitch during Match Day 7, the Terriers are well aware of the dangers Tottenham offer up over a 90 minute span.

Tottenham will no doubt own the possession battle, imposing their will at every opportunity in this game, looking to get out an run and exploit Huddersfield struggles to defend strong counter attacking sides, while creating a mass amount of shots on goal through individual skill and well rehearsed team play.

Huddersfield must look to be patient and pick their spots to attack, knowing they will see very little of the ball, they must use their aggression to their benefit, Tottenham have struggled to defend sides from creating shots on goal, while being susceptible to clubs with a strong Aerial attack, which the Terriers possess.

I will still back the home side in this match, even with European duties on the horizon, Spurs own to much talent within their starting eleven for the visitors, I anticipate a clean sheet being provided in front of the home crowd, while providing a multi-goal performance as a tune up match before the Italian champs come to town.
