English Premier League Blood Red Derby Preview

The EPL schedule makers are delighted with Sunday's list of participants. With three of England's big six clubs ready to share the spotlight, the league is banking large ratings based on these specific match-ups.

Sunday's card is highlighted by the longest standing rivalry in English football, with Manchester United and Liverpool set to kick off another edition of their "Blood Red Derby" while at Old Trafford.

Arsenal and Southampton will also meet in the second contest of the day. With two teams desperate for points in the standings, I expect these two English regulars to put on a show for precious points in the table.

Manchester United will start the match-day as one of the hottest teams in Europe, even after their first leg collapse against French champs PSG, the Red Devils feel confident they can add another victory against Liverpool during their 202nd meeting.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer continues to fight for the full-time position with his beloved club. The Norwegian manager was brought in last December, soon after Jose Mourinho was sacked after losing to this same Liverpool team 3-1, now with a record of 11-1-1 under his belt, Man-U's caretaker seems to be the right man for the permanent job.

Solskjaer's Squad Concern's

The Red Devil's skipper will have a few tough decisions to make as the opening whistle arrives. Man-United will be playing their second game over the last six days, with the second leg of the Champions Leg set to take place in Paris on Wednesday night, Solskjaer must now juggle his squad based off overall importance on multiple-fronts.

Solskjaer must also contend with a moderate list of injury concerns, with Antonio Valencia, Marcus Rojo, Matteo Drarmian, Jesse Lingard, and Anthony Martial all currently sidelined, although the latter two are being rumored to return against their bitter rivals on Sunday afternoon.

Marcus Rashford is scheduled to start against the Reds, the brilliant English-man has been electric since being given starters minutes, he has produced 6 goals and 2 assists since his new coaches arrival. Rashford's pure pace at the front of the line is a nightmare for defenders to handle, making United a real force in counter-attacking situations, the skilled forward is also deadly from long range out, where he uses his technical abilities to find the back of the net.

The Red-Devil's may have to call on the contributions of Romelu Lukaku, and Juan Mata to slide into the remaining front-line positions, aligned within 4-3-1-2 formation each is fully capable of having an impactful day.

The home-side owes Paul Pogba plenty of praise, the French-man continues to flourish under Solskjaer's guidance. Pogba has been handed more freedom within his new system of play, the World Cup winner is able to fully express leading to 9 goals and 6 assists, placing him with the league leaders in both departments, he is finally showcasing his overall skill-set.

Manchester United have experienced a large amount of success against the Reds while on their own pitch. The Red Devil's have won 7 of their last 9 home matches against Liverpool in all competitions, the hosts hope to keep their long-standing advantage holds up for yet another match-day.

Liverpool arrives in Manchester off the back of a frustrating 0-0 result against Bayern Munich. The Reds were held goalless for only the second time at Anfield this season, the visitors should be anxious to get back to their prolific ways.

Jurgen Klopp has his team playing well away from home this season, where they have gone 9-3-1, but the German has struggled against top four teams during their travels, only winning 1 of their last 8 fixtures since 2016.

Liverpool's Championship Aspirations

Klopp's men are well aware of the current points standings, currently 2nd to Manchester City on point differential, the Reds could take an overall lead with the Citizen's scheduled for league cup competition later in the day, giving Liverpool plenty of motivation to overcome this large obstacle in the pursuit of silverware.

The visitors were given an added boost when central defender Virgil van Dijk returned from suspension. The Dutch back-line member is huge to Liverpool's overall success, his presence in front of goal provides his team with plenty of balance on both ends of the pitch.

The Reds front-line will always draw praise when breaking this team down, with Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, and Mohamed Salah responsible for 57 goals and 12 assists in all competitions, teams must prepare for their pace and pure class with the ball at their feet, giving Liverpool multiple threats that are capable of scoring at the blink of an eye.

Team Prop
Liverpool - Team Total Over 1.5  +105 / 2.05 - Goals

Liverpool are closing in on a fully healthy squad, with only Joe Gomez, and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain officially ruled out, Klopp will have a full complement of options as the match progresses.

Manchester United vs Liverpool - Match Preview

The eyes of the soccer world will certainly be on Manchester, when these two massive clubs meet-up the viewing numbers explode, with close to a billion views there last time out, the second go-round this season should generate even more intrigue, with both sides trending upwards.

Manchester United has enjoyed playing at Old Trafford this season, where they average 2 goals per match. The Red Devil's have become more free-flowing under Solskjaer, wanting his team to move forward with purpose, his tactics have been an instant hit within the team, his players have scored multiple times in 10 of their first 13 fixtures since taking charge, averaging 2.5 goals during his current reign.

The hosts have found keeping clean-sheet in front of their home fans a true obstacle, allowing their opponents to score in 11 of their first 12 home matches, the Reds understand they will get quality looks on goal.

Liverpool has been a consistent unit during this new campaign, failing to lose in 26 of their last 27 EPL matches, the Reds have truly bought into their current culture within the club, placing them on a realistic path for their first league title since 1990.

The visitors have had no problems scoring based on their surroundings, Klopp's men have averaged 1.8 goals during their travels in all competitions, creating almost 13 shots on goal while away from Anfield.

Match Prop
Both Teams To Score and Over 2.5 Goals  -110 / 1.91

I originally anticipated a tighter match-up for the return leg, but with Mourinho's departure, I expect another up-tempo affair. I project both teams will get on the final score-line, with Liverpool most likely to grab all three points between these English giants.
