England Premier League - Match Week Eleven

The time for another week of top flight English football is upon us, after enduring a heart felt week ten, which included the sudden passing of Leicester City owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, the EPL will be ready to get back to action and help the overall healing process, if not for just a couple of hours.

The usual 'Big Six' clubs still dominate the top spots in the table, with the exception of Manchester United who are noticeably missing from European qualifications, placing an added emphasis on the Red Devils to make up ground in this ultra-competitive league.

Arsenal vs Liverpool
The Emirates, London, England

The premiership continues to produce top notch matches on a consistent basis. This week the schedule makers have provided another mouth-watering affair, with Arsenal welcoming the high-flying Liverpool squad to the Emirates, in what promises to be another must see event.

Arsenal will enter Saturday's fixture having finally seen their impressive 11 match winning streak come to end, after taking a 1-2 lead in Sunday's London Derby, the Gunners allowed a late penalty, giving Crystal Place a share of the spoils with a 2-2 final outcome.

The Londoner's were able to start another winning streak shortly after, even after going down to 10 men against lower division side Blackpool on Wednesday, the Gunners held onto a 3-2 victory, setting up for a meeting with fellow North London rivals Tottenham, in the quarter finals of England's EFL Cup tournament.

Unai Emery has settled right in with this famous side, even after a slow start to his tenure with the club, the Spaniard stayed true to his long-term plan, and has the Gunners sitting 4th in the top flight table. Emery also has his team succeeding within the Europa League format, a competition he has already won 3 times during his managerial career.

Saturday will be another obstacle for Arsenal's new head-man to overcome, this Liverpool side will test Emery's managerial tactics, shining a real spotlight on where the Gunner's truly stand under this new regime.

The hosts have been done no favors on the injury front, with defenders Hector BellerinSead Kolasinac and Nacho Monreal all major doubts to see significant match action. Arsenal will be forced to turn to veteran full-back Stephan Lichtsteine, and Granit Xhaka who will be forced to play out of position, which can only excite the multi-dimensional attack that Liverpool provides.

The Gunners understand that keeping a clean sheet over a 90 minute stretch could be difficult, the Reds have scored a minimum of 3 Goals, in their last 5 matches of this lop-sided rivalry. The Londoner's know they must generate their own form of attacking options if they are going to compete with their northern foes, placing added pressure on Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to continue their proficient strike force, already combining for 11 Goals during the first ten weeks of action, these skilled danger-men must find the back of the net, if the home side have a legitimate chance of collecting points in this Big Six contest.

Arsenal's number ten, Mesut Özil ,must also impress from his creative role, after returning from a mild injury, the German play-maker has had mixed results. Özil seemed to have adapted to Emery's 4-2-3-1 formation, after being placed on the wings to start the season, he was moved back into a central position, and had rewarded his manager with a Goal, and a Assist in the Gunner's come from behind win against Leicester City, but after a lack-luster performance against Crystal Palace, he was removed at the 68' minute, and showed major frustration with his manager's decision, placing him in a pivotal position to succeed this week after his most recent outing.

Liverpool enter the match-day flying domestically, after several seasons of mediocre play to start the EPL season, the Reds are in a legitimate position to challenge for their first league title since 1990.

The Champions League runner-ups make the trip to the capital city in their own must win scenario, currently occupying the 2nd spot in the Premier League table, Liverpool cannot afford to slip up against the Gunners, with Manchester City on a steady roll.

Jürgen Klopp continues to cement his stature in Northern England, after taking over for a dysfunctional unit in 2015, the German manager has this famous club on the verge of collecting trophies on multiple fronts. Klopp also has his team on the verge of making history, with a victory against Arsenal, his squad could surpass the 2002-2003 version for the best start in the Premier League era.

The visitors are set to run out a familiar cast of characters, led by Mohamed Salah who is now featuring as the primary striker in Liverpool's 4-2-3-1 formation. The Egyptian tally's man is starting to find his groove, after a slow start by his lofty standards, he has since netted 4 Goals in his last 3 matches, giving the Merseyside faithful confidence that their star-man has regained his prior form.

The emergence of Xherdan Shaqiri has been a large benefactor in the Reds change in alignment, the Swiss winger has forced himself into the starting eleven with a series of wonderful performances, now with a shot at further solidifying himself into the regular rotation, the "Messi of the Alps" should be a constant nuisance for Arsenal's back-end to defend.

Roberto Firmino may truly be the Reds "X-Factor", the Brazilian forward has found getting on the final score-line a challenge this season, with only 2 Goals to his name. Firmino has thrived against this Arsenal side, hitting the back of the net in 3 straight matches against the Gunners, while also assisting on 3 more goals during that wonderful run of success, at a price of +160 / 2.6 the talented danger man is certainly worth a modest investment, to make his mark on this match once again.

Liverpool have seen the largest improvement on the defensive side of the pitch, this club has long been known for conceding a plethora of goals each season, but since the signing of Virgil van Dijk this past January, and Alisson over the Summer, the Reds have turned their fortunes around, and are now considered a well rounded unit.

Arsenal vs Liverpool - Match Prediction

The last time we witnessed these two teams playing in London, they treated us to a 3-3 thriller, and with 27 total goals being scored over their past five meetings, we have come accustomed to seeing plenty of fireworks when these two English heavyweights cross paths.

Saturday's contest could be a little less offensive minded, with each team in favor of a organized back-line. I  would not be surprised to see these two sides grinding out a result, with this Total staying under the opening number.

Liverpool should still have the slight advantage, with Arsenal dealing with critical injury concerns to many of their best defenders, the Reds will be wise to attack the Gunner's vulnerable back-line. The visitors aggressive style of play should simply overwhelm the hosts, who will likely find themselves out of position on a regular basis, against the slick movements of this highly skilled Reds front-line.

Arsenal will also be challenged to get off too a fast start, notorious slow starters this season, I would not be surprised to see them falling behind once again, with Liverpool taking a first half lead, and forcing the hosts to play catch up as the second half arrives.

Based on this match-up, I would still expect Both Teams to find the back of the net on Saturday night, with the Reds producing multiple goals during their travels. Mohamed Salah is also a nice option to keep his own personal 3 match scoring streak alive against the Londoner's, at a price of -110 / 1.91 - for a Anytime Goal Scorer, this looks to be another wise option for those interested in additional value.
