Disney Worldwide Services, Inc., a Walt Disney Company subsidiary, with an additional $105,000 provided last month, has now contributed at least $4.655 million to a group trying to secure passage of a state constitutional amendment that could make it harder to expand gambling in Florida.

According to a finance report filed last week with the state Division of Elections, Disney was the only cash contributor to Voters In Charge, the political group leading the effort to pass a proposed constitutional amendment that would require voter approval of casino-style games in the future and effectively reduce the power of the Legislature and governor to decide gambling-related issues.

The proposed constitutional amendment will appear as Amendment 3 on the November ballot. The committee had raised about $6.74 million as of March 31. Some of the support money has also come from the Seminole Tribe of Florida, the Indian gaming operator, currently with a near monopoly on casino-style gambling in the Florida.

If approved by 60 percent of voters, the amendment would change the Florida Constitution and give voters the "exclusive right to decide whether to authorize casino gambling" in the state.
