Massachusetts Minutemen @ FIU Golden Panthers 12:00 PM ET

Game# 329-330

This is a makeup date for the game that had to be cancelled in September due to hurricane conditions that ravaged through Florida. Presently (11/28), the college football odds at Bovada is displaying FIU as a 1.5-point favorite in this Conference USA matchup.

UMass FIU preview pickThis will be the 3rd consecutive year in which these non-conference foes have met. Massachusetts walked away with a win in each of the last 2 confrontations.

FIU might have been much better off if they faced Massachusetts earlier in the year as originally scheduled. After all, the Minutemen began this season by losing its first 6 games. Since that time, Massachusetts won 4 of their next 5 contests. Their only loss during that sequence was 34-23 at Mississippi State, and they easily covered that contest as a massive 31.5-point underdog. As a matter of fact, the Minutemen led at halftime in that contest before wearing down against a more talented and athletic SEC team.

The Golden Panthers of FIU enter this regular season finale with a very respectable 7-4 record. They’re already bowl eligible, and besides the revenge factor, have very little to play for in this upcoming non-conference game. This is very much a potential flat spot for FIU, and especially so against an opponent riding a wave of momentum.

Massachusetts is averaging 29.3 points scored per game. Conversely, FIU has scored 24.3 points per contest in 2017. The combination of these offensive scoring statistics qualifies for an extremely profitable betting angle, and it can’t be ignored when I’m making this week’s college football picks.

Any team (Massachusetts) which is +3.0 to -3.0 that’s playing after game 6 of the season, averaging 28 to 34 points per game, and they’re facing a non-conference opponent (FIU) which is scoring 21 to 28 points per contest, resulted in those teams going 28-6 ATS (82.4%) since 2008. Furthermore, they were also 27-7 (79.4%) straight up during those 34 contests.

Pick: Massachusetts +1.5

UL-Lafayette Rajun Cajuns @ Appalachian State Mountaineers 2:30 PM ET

Game# 307-308

Sun Belt Conference free pickThe college football betting odds at Heritage currently has Appalachian State listed as a 14.5-point favorite in this Sun Belt Conference game.

Since joining the Sun Belt in 2014, Appalachian State has gone 3-0 against UL-Lafayette while outscoring them by a combined 87-23.

Appalachian State heads into this week locked in a 3-way tie with Arkansas State and Troy atop the Sun Belt Conference standings. All 3 teams have a 6-1 record in conference play. The Mountaineers are presently on a modest 2-game win streak and they allowed 10 points or less during both victories.

UL-Lafayette heads into their regular season finale with a 5-6 record, and needs a win on Saturday to become bowl eligible. The Rajun Cajuns have allowed 34 points or more in each of its previous 3 games.

Any conference favorite with betting odds (Appalachian State) of between -10.0 to -22.0 points, and they allowed 14 points or less in each of their last 2 games, versus an opponent (UL-Lafayette) which allowed 31 points or less during both of its previous 2 contests, resulted in those teams going 27-9 (75%) ATS since 2008.

Pick: Appalachian State -14.5
