San Diego State and Washington, which both scored wins last week, may have dangerous underdogs to deal with in games played on the West Coast on Saturday.

A lot of people scoffed when Herm Edwards, who had been out of the profession for a while, was hired as head coach at Arizona State. But Edwards has actually brought something fresh to the Tempe campus, beginning this latest phase of his career with wins over Texas-San Antonio and Michigan State. There was a speed bump last week, however, as the Sun Devils were out-muscled by San Diego State. Can they rebound from that? And can SDSU avoid a letdown as they entertain a very profitable Eastern Michigan squad?

Let's discuss......

ARIZONA STATE AT WASHINGTON, 10:30 PM ET
LINE at BetAnySports: Washington -18, Total 51

Yes, Washington is looking for revenge, as Arizona State won last year's meeting by a 13-7 score. And the Sun Devil defense did not look too good last week, allowing San Diego State to ramble for 311 rushing yards behind Juwan Washington. Still, there appears to be some real spirit in this program under new coach Herm Edwards, and we were not all that impressed by U-Dub's victory over Utah last week, even though it came by a 14-point margin. GO WITH: Arizona State.

EASTERN MICHIGAN AT SAN DIEGO STATE, 10:30 PM ET
LINE: San Diego State -12, Total 48.5

Eastern Michigan failed at Buffalo, but they discovered they had a pretty good backup quarterback in Mike Glass. Not that Tyler Wiegers has been doing badly. But the Eagles may have the edge at that position over San Diego State, which is now starting fourth-year junior Ryan Agnew in place of injured Christian Chapman. Of course, the Aztecs have the top weapon in the game, as Juwon Washington is fourth in the nation in yards per game and yards after contact. Eastern Michigan has not traveled this far in a while, but there are a pretty solid earner against the pointspread, going 21-8 ATS in their last 29, and covering 12 of the last 14 on the road. GO WITH: Eastern Michigan

DUQUESNE AT HAWAII, MIDNIGHT ET
LINE: Hawaii -38 (-120), Total 68

You have to wonder who's more tired here, because even though Duquesne has made a 4600-mile journey to get to Honolulu and will certainly do their share of sight-seeing, the Rainbows went to West Point and came back, and now they are going through Homecoming. Cole McDonald still has no interceptions, but his counterpart, Daniel Parr, is rather capable. GO WITH: Duquesne

SOUTH ALABAMA AT MEMPHIS, 8 PM ET
LINE at BetAnySports: Memphis -31, Total 67

South Alabama has basically been playing musical chairs at the quarterback position. Meanwhile, Memphis is sailing along with Arizona State transfer Brady White, who has thrown 10 touchdown passes already. And statistically, they have the top running back in the nation in Darrell Henderson. South Alabama has converted a pathetic 18.6% on third down, and Memphis has covered its last seven as a double-digit favorite. GO WITH: Memphis

RICE AT SOUTHERN MISS, 7 PM ET
LINE: Southern Miss -14, Total 53.5

Both of these teams are off a bye week, and the big news with Southern Miss is that Kwadra Griggs, who had been suspended, has been reinstated here. But has his value been overestimated in the line? Rice, now under the stewardship of former Stanford assistant Mike Bloomgren, is second nationally in possession time, so they can slow this one down. And Emmanuel Esupka (5.4 yards per carry) has been tough to stop. GO WITH: Rice

COASTAL CAROLINA AT LOUISIANA-LAFAYETTE, 7 PM ET
LINE: Louisiana-Lafayette -3 (-115), Total 63.5

If nothing else, Coastal Carolina is a mentally tough bunch, and you can attribute much of that to the presence of head coach Joe Moglia, currently the chairman of TD Ameritrade. Yes, ULL has a formidable ground attack, ranking sixth in the nation in rushing yards. But CCU may have the more steady field leader in quarterback Kilton Anderson, the Arizona State transfer, who at one point this season completed 16 straight passes. This could go down to the wire. GO WITH: Coastal Carolina
