Baylor and West Virginia have scored an insane tyotal of 248 combined points in the last two meetings, so it makes senese that they might make the scoreboard look like a pinball machine when they meet up on Saturday.

Those BetAnySports patrons who have witnessed the last couple of meetings between the Baylor Bears and West Virginia Mountaineers are well aware that defense is probably not something that was widely preached on the sidelines. In fact, those who have analyzed the college football odds for these games and have chosen the "under" have been sadly disappointed, as these last two contests have produced a total of 248 points. Is there any reason to believe it can't get there again? These two squads will meet up in Morgantown at Noon ET in what should be another wide-open affair.

West Virginia is unranked, but very dangerous. Baylor is fourth in the nation in both the Associated Press poll and the coaches' poll. And they are coming off a game that produced some real drama, as they had to come up with 24 points in the last five minutes to salvage a home victory over nationally -ranked TCU.

In the college football odds that have been posted by the people at BetAnySports, Baylor is the road favorite, and check out the total:

Baylor Bears -7.5
West Virginia Mountaineers +7.5

Over 80 Points -110
Under 80 Points -110

Obviously a key figure in this game is Baylor quarterback Bryce Petty, who came into the year as a Heisman trophy candidate and probably revived his hopes with last week's effort. Petty had suffered a back injury in the opening game against SMU and only had nine touchdown passes on the season going into the game against TCU. But before the game he had informed reporters that he was finally feeling pain-free, and he threw six touchdown passes, and he is now one of the favorites at +600 to pick up some Heisman hardware (Dak Prescott and Marcus Mariota are the two favorites at BetAnySports).

On the other side, college football bettors will get another look at Clint Trickett, a Florida State transfer who was just feeling his way around last season when these teams met. In that game, he completed only nine of 28 passes, but is much more comfortable in Dana Holgorsen's offense this year, throwing for 2203 yards thus far. Holgorsen, by the way, is one of the people who can probably be credited with making the Big 12 such a wild and wide-open conference in terms of the aerial circuses that most teams employ. And he appears to be doing a pretty good job helping Trickett develop himself as a trigger.

Not that West Virginia as needed help scoring points in the last two meetings. Indeed, the Mountaineers defeated Baylor on this field two seasons ago by a 70-63 score, as Geno Smith, currently with the New York Jets, was leading the offense. In last year's game, Baylor led 56-14 at halftime, if you can believe it, and rolled up 872 yards in a 72-43 victory at Waco. Baylor got 468 yards on the ground in that game, it should be noted.

We have talked about Baylor's comeback last week; BetAnySports customers should also realize that West Virginia came back from two touchdowns behind on the road to beat Texas 37-34 last week. They can put up points in a hurry, and have been extremely competitive with two national powers already, giving Alabama a scare in the season opener before falling by a 33-23 score, and then losing a 45-33 shootout to Oklahoma.
