The Bowling Green Falcons hope their rebounding edge will be the big difference as they host the Central Michigan Chippewas on Tuesday night.

If there is a team that could unseat the Buffalo Bulls for supremacy in the Mid-American Conference this season, it could be the Bowling Green Falcons, who hit the boards as well as any team in the nation. On Tuesday night they will try to make it a season sweep over the very capable Central Michigan Chippewas in "MAC-tion" that takes place at 7 PM ET at the Stroh Center in Bowling Green, Ohio. It's televised by ESPN Plus, and while that's happening, BetAnySports customers can place wagers in real time as they access what is available through Live Betting Ultra.

The Falcons (16-7 SU, 14-7 ATS) are one of only three teams to beat Buffalo, which has held a national ranking all season, and they were actually leading the Bulls in the MAC until their last game, in which they suffered a mild upset loss to Toledo, another conference contender. They forced 18 turnovers, but did not have a great shooting night, and saw folks like Justin Turner and Antwon Lillard go cold.

But the reliable guy was once again Demajeo Wiggins, the 6-10 power forward who had 16 points and eleven rebounds. That's nothing out of the ordinary for Wiggins, who is sixth in the nation in rebounding (11.5 per game). And he spearheads a team effort that has placed BGSU second among the country's 353 Division I teams (North Carolina is #1) in rebounds per game, at 42.5.

In the college basketball betting odds that have been posted on this game by the folks at BetAnySports, the Falcons are solid favorites at home:

Bowling Green Falcons -6.5
Central Michigan Chippewas +6.5

Over 160 points -110
Under 160 points -110

Central Michigan may be a little discouraged from their effort the other day, when they had a 14-point lead over Buffalo but woumd up losing by fourteen (90-76). The Chips (16-7 SU, 12-8 ATS) collapsed in the second half, as Buffalo erupted for 52 points. A bright spot was Shawn Roundtree, who had five triples on his way to 26 points.

CMU defends the three-pointer well (allowing 31%), which should bother Bowling Green a little, since the Falcons shoot that much better than they do when working inside the arc. And that would seem somewhat odd for a team that is so proficient rebounding the ball, but aside from Wiggins, they are nothing sensational scoring on the inside.

But when BGSU misses shots, they should have some success gaining second chances against CMU, which is outside of the top 300 when it comes to Defensive Rebounding Percentage. And they better be accurate, because they aren't going to get their own second shots, since very few teams sweep the defensive glass like Bowling Green.

We saw against Western Michigan a couple of games ago that Falcon opponents can get worn down by their physical style of play, especially when they don't have a lot of depth, And CMU does not spread many minutes to its bench at all (only three teams in the nation give less). We acknowledge that there is talent on the Chippewas' side with Larry Austin (26 points in previous meeting) and Roundtree (who's hitting 46.9% from the arc in MAC play). But Bowling Green is likely to get more shots, as they did last time these two faced each other (fifteen more, in fact), and Justin Turner, who scored 30 in that previous encounter, is anxious to redeem himself after going 0-for-7 from the arc against Toledo. So we'll lay the points with the Falcons, who are 9-1 against the spread at home.
