Predictions and tips when Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Borussia Dortmund meet Saturday in Match day 20 of the Bundesliga.

Bundesliga - Match Day 20

The German top flight schedule continues on Saturday afternoon with a lengthy list of top rated match-ups. The league leaders highlight the card as the "BVB" attempt to keep their 6 point lead atop the Bundesliga table, but with a trip to Frankfurt the "Black and Yellows" must be prepared for a up-tempo encounter from the Eagles.

Bavarian giants Bayern Munich are doing their best to make up ground, after a shaky start to the campaign the defending champs have made a significant amount of ground, but with a trip to Bayer Leverkusen, they will be tested to grab maximum points in this captivating title chase.

The table toppers arrive in Germany's financial district with a clear goal in mind, grab maximum points and fight off the advances of the mighty Bavarians, but Frankfurt poses their own threat as a side with plenty of talent who are more than capable of stopping the league leaders in their tracks.

Frankfurt will begin the match-day with European aspirations of their own. After escaping with a point last weekend against a determined Werder Bremen side the Eagles return home looking to rebound against a powerful Dortmund unit.

Adi Hütter has proven he belongs in Germany's top league. The Austrian headman was brought in after Niko Kovač made the jump to Bayern Munich in the offseason. Now with his team currently sitting 5th in the standings, the Frankfurt faithful have quickly accepted their new manager and feel the future is bright under his forward-thinking styles of play.

Die Adler's Quick Strike Attack

The Eagles have been one of the more entertaining clubs to follow through the first half of the Bundesliga campaign. After several years of struggling to score multiple goals on a consistent basis, Hütter has his men pushing forward with a real sense of purpose, already accounting for 57 goals in all competitions throughout of a well-choreographed 3-4-1-2 formation, while using the counter-attack as a true weapon of choice to keep opposing defenses on their toes.

The three-headed monster of Sébastien Haller, Luka Jovic, and Ante Rebic have been responsible for much of the damage caused at the front of the Eagles front-line. The trio has adapted well to playing with one another as they have produced 40 total goals in all competitions. Saturday each must come up with magical performances once again. Knowing they will see less of the possession against this Dortmund side, they must take advantage of their chances on goal and make the visitors pay for any mistakes they make in the attacking half of the pitch.

The hosts have lofty goals after almost facing relegation only a few seasons back. Now currently a part of the Europa League round of 16, the Eagles have now set their sights on finishing in the top three of the league and representing the Bundesliga as part of the Champions League next season.

Frankfurt will be challenged on the back-end, preferring to use a three-man back-line they will be under immense pressure for much of the time while Dortmund's in town. Die Adler have had an issue with keeping clean sheets, conceding 26 goals during the first half of the current domestic season, they understand they likely-hood of keeping the BVB off the score-line will be a monumental obstacle, but they must stay disciplined and attempt to limit the visitors clear cut chances in front of goal.

Borussia Dortmund enters the match-day with a huge target on their backs. The BVB have exceeded many of the pundit's expectations as the first half of the season has passed. With Bayern Munich going off at 7/1 favorites to retain their stronghold within the league, Dortmund has continued to keep the Bavarians at a considerable distance as they attempt to claim their first domestic title since 2012.

Lucien Favre has been the shining light on the Dortmund sideline, the Swiss taskmaster has experienced a dream first season at the helm of the current pacesetters.

Dortmund's Plan Of Action

Favre has reinvigorated his side with a wonderful brand of football after the team dealt with two separate managers last season. Now with a true identity on both sides of the pitch, the results have continued to fall into place with an overall record of 15-3-1 record, and an astounding +31 goal differential as proof of their true commitment to be a complete team.

The BVB has also been blessed with a squad full of world-class talent to boot, led by captain Marco Reus who has been the comeback player of the campaign thus far. Reus has dealt with a list of well-documented injuries over the past few seasons which has derailed his full potential, but now fully healthy, the German international has been at the forefront of Dortmund's revival, offering a full array of passes and uncanny instincts between the lines. The intelligent midfielder has also chipped in with 15 goals in all competitions making him a true multi-purpose threat with the ball at his feet.

Reus has been accompanied by Jadon Sancho and Paco Alcácer for much of his time within the normal rotation. Sancho and Alcácer are each having breakout seasons in Germany, both have provided the guests with timely goals combining for 18 on the domestic calendar. Now matched up against a leaky Frankfurt defensive alignment the Dortmund wonder tandem is in a great position to add to their season's totals.

Dortmund could be without one of their mainstays on the backend, with defender Lukasz Piszczek struggling to recover from a foot injury. Piszczek has been a stabilizing force on the backend for the BVB, if unable to go that could be a true blow against a Frankfurt team who poses a danger each time they move forward in attack.

Frankfurt vs Dortmund - Match Prediction

The opportunity to see one of the more entertaining matches of the day will involve the 1st and 5th place teams in the table, with each club owning dynamic attacks we should see plenty of opportunities to place the ball in the back of the net.

Frankfurt has traditionally struggled to gather positive points against their famous guests over the years, compiling a record of 3-1-6 in their last 10 meetings alone. The Eagles are a different looking squad than from those of the past,  and they now have the type of system and firepower to go a full ten rounds with any team in the league, averaging 2.1 goals per match they are always looking to score using through balls and a lethal counter-attack to their advantage.

Dortmund is also a team who push the pace as they enjoy springing their wingers into action and placing their dedicated number nine in successful positions. The BVB is averaging an impressive 2.6 goals per match while having scored a minimum of 2 goals in 12 of their last 15 outings in league play, assuring their chances of hitting the back of the net at a high percentage.

Match Prop
Both Teams To Score In 1st Half  +265 / 3.65

I am expecting another high scoring affair when these two high flying sides link up, with Frankfurt having seen the total eclipse 2.5 goals in their last 7 home matches. The total has also surpassed 2.5 goals in their last 6 matches in all competitions when matched-up with Dortmund.
