Clayton Kershaw takes the mound in an effort to keep the Los Angeles Dodgers alive in Game 6 of the National League Championship Series.

The Los Angeles Dodgers came out of Game 3 of the National League Championship Series feeling very good about themselves, because they were keeping the Chicago Cubs' bats very quiet and still had time for another turn for Clayton Kershaw. Well, now they are facing elimination, and so Kershaw is the guy who is going to keep their hopes for a World Series berth alive as he takes the mound in Game 6, set to go at 8:05 PM ET at Wrigley Field. BetAnySports customers can get reduced juice on this game before it begins, and then after the first pitch is thrown, they get to take advantage of real-time wagers through the facilities of Live Betting Ultra.

Kershaw has long struggled when it came time for the playoffs, relative to his regular season domination. But he has lately been a hero for the Dodgers. First of all, he came in for a save in the deciding Game 5 of the Divisional Series against the Washington Nationals, and then he stifled the Cubs for just two hits over seven innings in Game 3 of this series. And that happened at Wrigley. Can that happen again?

The Cubs will go with Kyle Hendricks, and that isn't chopped liver. Hendricks was the major leagues' leader in ERA this season (2.13), but the Cubs haven't gotten distance efforts out of him. He opposed Kershaw in Game 3, and gave up only one run in his 5-1/3-inning stint, but that was a home run by Adrian Gonzalez, which was the only run of the game.

In the baseball playoff betting odds that have been posted on this game by the people at BetAnySports, the Dodgers, with Kershaw, are the favorites:

Los Angeles Dodgers (Kershaw - L) -133
Chicago Cubs (Hendricks - R) +123

Under 6.5 Runs -120
Over 6.5 Runs +100

The Cubs were shut out in both Game 3 and Game 4, and people started to wonder if they weren't going to be completely shut down by Dodger pitching. But as they have faced starters Julio Urias and Kenta Maeda in the last two games, their bats have woken up, winning those contests by margins of 10-2 and 8-4. The Dodger bullpen has really been getting a workout, and has a 4.29 ERA overall in the post-season. Clearly they are going to be looking to get some innings out of Kershaw. Ideally what they would like to do is get the ball from Kershaw directly to Kenley Jansen. Anything else in between would have a much greater degree of uncertainty.

BetAnySports patrons know that the Cubs' bullpen hasn't exactly been a sure bet in this series either, with a 3.71 post-season ERA. Aroldis Chapman was a little off his game a couple of nights ago, as he gave up a couple of runs. It has been suggested that maybe he didn't quite have the "edge" compared to a much tighter game (he cam in six runs ahead). What will they get out of those hitters who seem to have worked themselves out of slumps, namely shortstop Addison Russell, who has hit a homer in each of the last two games? SOMEBODY has to make solid contact against Kershaw.
