Both companies introduced this technology breakthrough in the last two weeks. Both VIP and Tradewinds boast that their platform supports over 600 mobile devices and 200 service providers globally . . . and counting. Both sites have a similar download area that is conveniently sorted by brand and model to make it easier for you to download the right wireless software for your mobile phone/device. There are area for frequently asked questions, customer support and a glossary to help sort through the myriad of acronyms such as WAP, AMPS, GPRS and CDMA. For US customers it looks like most every cellular carrier will work with these systems. The major carriers such as AT&T, Cingular, Nextel, QWest and Verizon are among the list over over 20 service providers that will work with the Java-enabled software. However, T-Mobile does not allow its customers to download programs ‘over-the-air’ outside their mobile Internet portal. Thus, this software cannot be used on a T-Mobile phone.
