Bookmaker has moved into a strategic partnership with Las Palmas and sister sportsbook BetCanadian, culminating over a month of discussions and negotiations. The acquisition will guarantee Las Palmas customers the premium service, benefits and advantages BookMaker patrons have enjoyed for years.
"Maintaining our growth strategy is critical for us and we continue to achieve our goals by finding strong players in the industry that can complete our wide range of products or by sharing our benefits with customers that have been playing with other companies through the acquisition," said Mickey Richardson, CEO of BookMaker.com in a recent press release.
In reality, this was a much need bailout for the struggling Horizon20 brands.
LasPalmas has been around for almost the entire decade and was once the sister book to a very sharp shop (WIT) that closed down in the early 2000s. LasPalmas had quite a successful run through 2008 and grew a very respectable racebook as part of its portfolio under the management at Horizon20. However, they began to run into problems earlier this year and were downgraded to "Watch" on our Bad Bets List. We knew of several players who were waiting for large funds from the sportsbook and its sister racebook - EHorse.
Many players who were waiting have already have received their funds or are making additional withdrawal requests. Players who had contacted us as far back as April confirmed that they had been paid or moved over to Bookmaker.com.
Apparently the EHorse brand, including the racing exchange EHorseX, will continue to operate under the same management but will run entirely out of the Bookmaker offices.
Bookmaker is arguably the largest of all of the operators that still take wagers from U.S. players. They have acquired several brands that have needed assistance over the years, including most recently BetJoint, bailing out players who were looking at a stiff situation.
LasPalmas and BetCanadian customers can now rest easy, knowing that they are part of a top book now. The transistion has already been completed with all aspects of the sportsbook are now under the banner of Bookmaker. Needless to say, LasPalmas is no longer listed as a "Watch" on our Blacklist.
