DOVER, Del. (AP) -- A Republican lawmaker from Bear says allowing sports betting could help reverse the state's revenue shortage.

Rep. Vincent Lofink says the state could make between $22 million to $70 million annually. He plans to introduce a sports betting bill when lawmakers return from their current recess.

Gov. Ruth Ann Minner has said she's opposed to any legislation that would allow sports betting in Delaware. But last week, she said she would wait and see if a bill was passed before making a decision on a veto.

Lofink says he hopes his proposal passes by June so sports betting is ready to begin before February's Super Bowl.
